Been waiting for a response either via support or Facebook since Wednesday myself, they are usually a bit quicker than that. So far radio silence.

Possibly not, but you could have a slightly different one---.exe files are often blocked by Windows and/or security software. As Peter has suggested above, check your AV to see if that's stripping the .exe from the .zip archive; check your Windows logs too.

Unfortunately I dont have access to another computer so cant download and extract that way.
On the subject of being able to download and install exe files rather than zip, I was able to download and install the Just trains western mainline update exe file ok with no issues, so it appears to be the zip file that is causing the issue for me at least.
Guess I will have to wait for Just trains to reply to my support ticket and see what they suggest, but thanks to everybody who tried to offer help anyway.

The main guy at JT who looks after support, has been away from work this week, and has only returned to work yesterday.
He is catching up on the backlog of queries.
Cheers

Hi Dave..,
you are not alone, same problem here using 7zip.
Tried installing with AV (Bullguard) AV and Firewall turned off. As you state, never had this problem before with JT software.
Method used by me, using 7zip was to click on the setup.exe (CML106_1) - then give win7 (open file - Security warning) the run command . The result of which is Program Compatability Assistant pop up window (CML106_2).
I await and would be appreciative on any further info on this problem.

Does it make any difference if you 7-Zip/ 'Extract Files ...' to a folder then run setup.exe from there?
ie unzip all the files first.

Hi all,
just managed to install the CML106 update.
First off, my system OS Win7 Professional so what I found may not work for your system. RClick on downloaded (Install_CML_106.zip). On the drop down list that now appears, choose "Extract files" then the "New Folder button". I then keyed in "CML106" and then "OK". It was then I noticed a new folder had appeared on my desktop Install_CML-106. This folder contained all the items as shown in the previous posting of the zip file contents. The difference being. that on LClicking the setup.exe, in this folder. The process of uninstalling/installation of the software proceeded as normal the JT method, using the .exe, as can be found with the Install_CML_Aylesbury_103.exe Dowmnload.
Hope this helps someone.
Regards JohnT

It may be you unzipping program that's at fault.
I have had problems with 7Zip in the past. It hasn't always unzipped 3rd party content properly. I encountered this problem with Searchlight Simulations stuff. They recommended WinRAR (payware, though the first month is a free trial). I've never had problems since.

That is the proper/only way to do it.
You never run from inside an unzipped folder, even though windows 7 and 10 allow you to view the contents of a zip file in explorer as if it had been unzipped.

Try downloading to another HD on your computer or a USB memory stick and see if that works.

Ok thanks, I tried the downloading it to a usb memory stick and after 2 attempts it downloaded ok and I was able to extract successfully with 7zip and have now installed ok was able to load up a freeroam and it worked ok.
I did however encounter a problem with an error in data cab 4 as before but this didn't deem to affect the installation apart from it picking up an issue with one of the files being incorrectly named or somthing, but it still seemed to install correctly and as I said load ok in the freeroam I tried, will have a better look later when I have more time.

Sounds like it's time to run a checkdisk on the drive you've been unable to extract successfully from then.

The only other (final) suggestion I have is to now download and unzip a totally unrelated program.
Question is what ?
http://www.foldermatch.com/fmdownload.htm
Is a very useful file comparison software, there is a zip download on this page and I can vouch for the company.
(I have no commercial connection with them but their support have been very helpful with a disc copying problem)
