Great news - at long last the 175 and 221 included in North Wales Coastal get proper sounds.

Hi,
I'm stuck on your last instruction "Paste in Assets/DTG/NorthWalesCoastal/RailVehicles/Diesel/Class175/Default/AP
DO NOT OVERWRITE WHEN ASKED!!!!!"
See attachment. Despite redownloading and installing both AP packs mentioned ,i.e Class175 / 220/221/22 . plus their extra stock. Just incase they have been updated since first purchase. I do'nt have ......./class175/AP as required above. Please advise.

Regards JohnT

Why is AP now releasing patches on Alan Thompson website. I have paid AP for the class 185 and class 220/221 sound pack so why can’t I download updated versions from the store I paid them from. I am not signing up to Alan Thompson website even to get freeware as that just gives him another member on his statistics.
AP should be releasing patches via the store page where you buy it from NOT from Alan Thompson’s website

I think you'd get more help by posting at alanthomsonsim, jp is just an unofficial messenger boy.

As I've just downloaded and installed the patch (but not yet tried it) I can actually help - the \AP subfolder will have installed as part of step 1 in the readme. So perhaps something went wrong with that first step?

Sorry ignore my last comment I didn’t realise it was a non AP patch but done by someone else. The text on the AT website says “An AP Sound patch for the Class 175 and Class 221 included with North Wales Coastal”
Which makes it sound like an AP patch which it is not my error.
I will await an official patch from AP

Hi,
well having received conformation from jpvdveer. Have retaken all the steps and as he states the AP folder has now appeared.
As I'm increasingly finding of late. It pays to turn of the computer, walk away and let life occupy my time for awhile and lo and behold it fixes itself.

Why wait? It is not actual AP sound files, just edits to the files to link to the AP sounds (which you will already have in the AP folders), mirroring exactly how it was previously done by AP, for DTG's SWC 175, and Cross Country 220. And just as I would have done if I had gottten around to it, and as I have done on several other DLCs at times, where AP haven't yet issued an edit.

No reason not to run with it, because it is exactly how AP will do it as and when, if and when, they get around to it

In the past AP would have amended their packs shortly after the release of the original NWC route - now two years ago or something like that? That no longer appears to be the case, probably because AP now produce Enhancement Packs that take just one DTG model as basis (eg the 159 for the 158 packs), without actually updating that particular model (as this would break existing scenarios), let alone other DTG models.

For this reason this community patch is very welcome. AP effectively produce their own rolling stock now (sometimes starting with an existing DTG model) and generally are no longer in the business of updating the actual DTG stock (only the 390 is a recent exception). They did state at one point that they would update the 175 in NWC but that was already quite some time ago.

Charging people a fee for locked in payware is not on and I won’t support a website that is doing that be it to get access to freeware or. It.

Read kt as a typo Peter...8 is only a single key away from 7 and dead easy to hit instead.

I'm no fanboy of Alan Thomson, but by Jove he's done a good job with his website. I've paid me 30 quid and I'm as happy as Larry. This week I've had more fun out of TS than I've had for years because of it - loads of good scenarios and content, got me 30 quids worth already. Glad I've not had to resort to spitting bile and venom this week instead. Driving trains is much more fun. I've had to forego my evening pint of scotch to cover the costs, but hey, it's saving me liver too. Win win situation.
