Looks to be an update to North Wales Coastal, because of the release of the Holyhead extension perhaps?

All my North Wales Coastal files were updated on the 15/2/19. Because I have Steam Starting when my computer starts I don't notice these automatic downloads. Look at the date of the AP file. Inside all the files have a date modified date of 7/2/19.

All of my Steam routes re-downloaded, & small updates to cl 31, 66, 67 421, 422, 423 456

I had a lot of routes using in store, using storethem, maybe this confused steam & it updated all of these as well

And there's the proof that DTG can actually replace files within .ap files - something that's been debated before.

The .ap file for North Wales Coastal is about 1.7 Gb but the download was nowhere near that. So they must have downloaded only the files that needed updating and put them inside the .ap file.

I received a 510mb download just now which gave me a new NorthWalesCoast Asset folder of 1.6GB, I thought that downloads from Steam are compressed?

Cheerz. Steve.

They are indeed. My download was under 1Gb, but I now have a brand new NWC .ap archive (1.7 Gb), in which ALL the files are dated 6 Feb 2019. That is not to say that all files have been updated, but in forming a .ap archive (as with a .rwp archive) all files are given the date of the formation. This is unfortunate, as there is no way to tell which of the files are new versions!

It is not DTG but Steam.

Trev, the replacement files are from DTG - Steam is just the delivery mechanism.

I think the point he is trying to make is that the Steam Download system most likely has the capability to apply changes to *any* kind of file by downloading only the parts that have changed and patching the already downloaded older version. The fact it that happens to be an archive file is irrelevant, Steam would just see it as a big binary file the same as any other and use a generic algorithm to figure out how to modify the old file to make the new file.

At least I am almost certain that there is no custom code in the Steam Download client specially to deal with DTG .ap files(they aren't that important!), so either the download compression is really great, or Steam is clever enough to patch the existing files in a generic way.

Yes, that is correct. :)
