The video (the bit from 37 mins) explains that Pete, the guy doing the merge as made items that he will be including with the route to aid the joins. Hence the presence of this GeoPcDx file. Nothing underhand, no including someone elses work, all legal and above board.

Yes. All I saw was opinions on other peoples opinions. Was I too hasty?
Plus I made the connection to "WCML South 5.1 - out now" after I posted here.

I wouldn't say too hasty as such; your's was an honest appraisal based upon the information you had Andi.
A subscription based download system is fine, as long as the items behind that "paywall" are items that he/she/they employing the system have the full rights to.
That of course begs the question "just who is involved"........we've seen a member of a couple of years standing make his first posts ever in the discussions around this subject. Strange that something he's found as annoying as the painfully slow download speed at UKTS only now is worth commenting on. Personally, I find that the speed of a download running whilst I'm asleep makes no difference.......

Thanks for this, Gary. Just to make it clear that I don’t have the slightest involvement with ATS. The reason for only posting now more actively is the moderated posting system for new UKTS joiners which makes it close to pointless to actually post - when a post is finally approved, the discussion usually has moved on and the post usually isn’t even noticed. (This is another thing where UKTS could improve on, but that is another topic). Since joining I have therefore barely posted - moderated access has only been lifted very recently and now it is more interesting to actually take part in the discussions.

I haven’t subscribed to ATS and will not do so for the foreseaable future. An economist by background, I do find it interesting to comment on the economic aspects of this new venture, which is what I have done. I fully recognise and appreciate the comments regarding it being questionable for some of these routes now being a (still hopefully temporary) paywall. But the flipside of this is that all other content is now much more accessible than was the case previously, spread over a multitude of websites.

(On downloads running overnight - don’t forget to count in the cost of energy consumption - not always negligible).

Would the cost of that extra energy consumption be more, less, or equal to That of an alanthomsonsim subscription? Would it me more financially viable to take out an inexpensive month subscription at UKTS?
I imagine that those who want merged routes for the longer scenarios haven't factored in the extra cost that extended playing time brings either, nor do they particularly care.

It is bound to be less but one should not forget about it. Leaving a powerful (or old) rig running overnight could in some cases cost 50p or something like that (~2kWh). If you want to do that lots of times then a £3 subscription to UKTS will indeed be cheaper (and have a lower carbon footprint etc).

Bit of a late reply, but why would Pete put something in the RSC folder rather than his own (SP202 iirc)?

If it was a re-work of an official .GeoPcDx file, such as a change in texture name, then it would live in the RSC folder. Does anybody know just what the asset is?

From the file name it looks like the simple 2 poly support post that first came with the UKPro signals and then with pretty much every modern route since. In terms of recent events it certainly doesn't warrant an investigation.

Has anybody got the 67028 reskin by Chris Horsefield downloaded from AT's site to appear in game?
Instructions are just to copy the downloaded asset folder to Railworks and then copy the Class67Pack01 Class67.GeoPcDx from the Red/Engine folder to the 67028/Engine folder but after this it can't be loaded in the game.
Any ideas? It's only a loose consist in one of the scenarios but it's bugging me

Have just loaded this loco as the driver consist in a scenario and have had no problem with it all. Shows up fine and have driven it with no problem. I just loaded the download from AT's site as instructed and copied over the geo engine file from "Red" to "67028".

OK...it's just me cynically moaning, but why doesn't a site that's been touted as the best thing ever for the COMMUNITY seem not to have it's own support system? (I'm not a member so I may be missing what members see when they visit/log in)

Does it show in the available assets listing Ron?---if not that would indicate a missing/unreadable .bin file so check that that's actually there. As Peter has it working as it should it could be a problem unique to your system/security settings, such as a slightly over zealous AV program or User Account restrictions.
If it shows as available but nothing shows when selected then check that the correct .Geo is in the correct place---looking in the .bin file with RW Tools would show you the full path and file name it's written to use, so if your's is only slightly off it will cause bother.

Thanks Gary, took your advice and had a shufty at the .bin and could see some references to an AP folder in the Class67Pack01 folder.
Turns out the loco doesn't appear unless you have the AP Class67 Soundpack installed. No mention of this in the reskin download though.
Sorted now so thanks again :D

To be fair to Chris Horsfield over at ATS it does list requirements as Class 67 EWS and Class 67 Sound Pack on the download page.
