So I have an issue with this pack.

Tried to make a scenario with top and tailed 68s. AP give you the means to do it with the loco at the front driving the train, and the loco at the pack not driving but providing ETS to the coaches. But what if you make a scenario when you want to change to the other loco? What I tried to do was turn the engine off in the rear loco and turn on ETS, but Ctrl + Z turns off the engines of both locos, so I found you can't just turn one loco's engine off within the scenario when its physically attached to the train. You have to have both driving the train or nothing.

Also you can't turn on just the tail lights. You could turn them on at the end you want but find the the headlights are on at the other end of the rear loco.

Sadly the part in bold is beyond the capabilities of the simulator unless both locos provide power as engines which would be unrealistic. We tend to only cater for realistic operations and 68s have never run through-wired where both power.

Read ziggy's post again Richard...what he's describing is what you're saying isn't modelled -- 2 locos powering.

Apologies for the confusion though the point you pick up on is no help to Ziggy. I'm not saying 2 locos powering isn't simulated. I'm saying you can't have a loco that doesn't power on the rear that can later be accessed and made to power. Which is what Ziggy wants. My last sentence is just a wider point which could have been worded better. Through powering will work in the sim but is just a coincidence from our perspective as it's effectively just double heading but with the locos in different positions.

What I personally don't like about the pack is that the scenarios require the class 158/159 (Cummins) pack. AP changed all their WL scenarios to use the Perkins pack a while back (including the AP44 Class 68 scenarios!!) and for me this was the only reason I bought it. Now suddenly they switch to the Cummins pack for the class 68 WL scenarios. I understand they want to push us to purchases and of course I can switch it with RWTools if needed, but then something could break in the scenarios; so it would be nice if two versions were provided right from the box - one for the Cummins and one for the Perkins add-on. I am not going to part with GPB 12 just to be able to run 4 class 68 scenarios where the given DMU is just AI.

They do this because they are a better product, also would assume that if people have bought the current enhancement pack they would already have previous ones, I am glad they use the best possible version of traction, it makes for a better scenario, if you wont have a pack that is used, you can use RW Tools to swap out the stock for the basic models.

Why swap out the Cummins engine for the Perkins,when the Cummins is much better imo

If somebody doesn't have either of the 158 enhancement packs, then should AP produce versions of scenarios using the original 158?....of course not! if someone doesn't have the *right* stock it's a pretty straight forward job to swap those items for ones they do have. Yes, there's a possibility that scenarios edited might be *broken*, but it's a very small possibility and more often than not also easily fixed--delaying a service start by 5 seconds is enough to resolve a patting conflict for example.

This problem can be solved by keeping previous versions of AP downloads and not replacing them with more recent ones, until you have the stock/upgrades to use them.

If you submit a support ticket to AP, they may send you the early executable (if you own the pack). They've done that previously for me.

Actually, if you have the Wherry Lines scenario pack from AP AP44 you have 13 scenarios for the Class 68 altogether.

Alternatively install the latest add-ons into a dummy folder and transfer everything except the contents folder to your working installation. Then the scenarios remain untouched.

So the bottom line advice seems to be "take control of what gets put in your working copy of the game" ?

Or be able to revert back to earlier versions if you don't like what's been auto installed.

No they do this to make more money. Why do they have to use there own “enhancement packs” for asI. Why don’t they just use the default standard products with reskins. An AI train isn’t going to be to bothered about any “enhancements”. I priced up an AP products before and to get the single scenario working that came with said product it totalled over £180!!! That is just a joke.
Funny thing is if DTG was to do such a thing with new products. Ie the included scenarios required multiple dtg products to work people would be going up in arms. But as it’s AP it is perfectly ok
