Following the versions of Google Earth being retired that were compatible with RW Decal, My hunt for takers to sort the code failed miserably late last year mainly due to the size of project but I'm giving it another shot. So if anyone is interested in working to get RW Decal functional with the newer versions of Google Earth so that those including myself who were still using it will be able to do so once again. The code is freely available here: https://github.com/simdeveloper/RWDecal however if functional again the program MUST continue to remain FREE.

I have searched online for hours before finding this thread... I'm in exactly the same position: absolutely LOST without RW Decal/Google Earth 6.1!

The Google Earth overlay in Railworks has never worked for me - all I ever get is a blue circle spinning around endlessly. But apart from that, I used RW Decal because I could overlay old maps onto Google Earth 6.1, then use RW Decal to make accurate track plans for any period. Now, all I can do is overlay the maps on GE, then laboriously note the coordinates of every point, every building etc. It's a pain, and nowhere near as accurate as using the decals.

Personally I'd be happy to pay for a similar program that was compatible with Google Earth.

But any way... WHY did they turn it off?

Sorry for the late response I believe google retired the versions that worked mainly so they could focus on the newer versions and on an further note because of rw decal needing a huge rewrite to get working and no one being willing to take on the task its unlikely we'll see it working again
