To answer your question (as the modeler of the 319/205/Mk2): Passenger models that look 'normal' are quite expensive to render due to their high vertex count and vertex density when rendered from normal views, making passenger nodes heavily transform-bound at render time. Simply put, during tests there was a noticeable performance drop when passenger models were added, especially in busy scenarios.
I'll make some further tests during the next development cycle to see whether passengers can be added using other methods to ensure performance.
Also to add: those complaining most AP stock doesn't come with passenger views, the following stock does in-fact come with custom passenger view models:
205 - two variants: BR/NSE
319 - several passenger views, with different seat types and interiors
Mk2A-C - any car with a first class compartment
Mk2D-F - each livery has its own interior/seat moquette
AP Stock - no Passengers

Re: AP Stock - no Passengers
You are quite correct. Passenger figures especially can sap frame rates. However the simple "PassCamera" mod , given the good internal detail in much of the AP stock models, can give the ability to look around and out from a realistic passenger compartment with a minimal impact on frame rates.GatwickSpotting wrote:To answer your question (as the modeler of the 319/205/Mk2): Passenger models that look 'normal' are quite expensive to render due to their high vertex count and vertex density when rendered from normal views, making passenger nodes heavily transform-bound at render time. Why do I now sense a AP Passenger enhancement pack coming to support the stock now

I wonder how Waggonz got around the problem with the 313/4/5 Emu's which do feature Passengers?

There's no 'getting around' the problem of extra vertices/textures/drawcalls, some developers simply decide the positives of having passenger nodes out-weigh the negatives; one of the greatest things in TS is having multiple developers that take a different view on things, and tackle problems in different ways.749006 wrote:I wonder how Waggonz got around the problem with the 313/4/5 Emu's which do feature Passengers?
Like I say though, I will experiment with upcoming developments to see if there's a way to make it work to my satisfaction.
