Re: Vulcan productions Christmas goodies
I've just downloaded the route again, threw it on the PC (once again without any of the extra assets installed) and edited the Up Riviera scenario, once again changing every stock item and then disabling the rolling start. Loaded perfectly.
John, detail step by step everything you did to this scenario---what you edited, how you did it, leave nothing out.

As far as I know it's the latest (the second one I downloaded). Railways_Of_Devon.exe is time stamped 27/12/2018 3:54 AM

Re: Vulcan productions Christmas goodies
Wonder of wonders, I can now run it!
I made a clone, opened the clone in the editor, had a look around but as far as I know didn't actually change anything. When I hit the Play button it ran!
I went back to the original and it wouldn't run. I tried my clone again and it ran.

Re: Vulcan productions Christmas goodies
I assume the rolling start aspect wasn't included in the cloning process---you do that with RW Tools or in the game editor?

I cloned it with the in-game editor.

There's an update to the route, announced today on VP's Facebook page, which (among other things) has a fix for the Up Riviera scenario.

Re: Vulcan productions Christmas goodies
Thanks very much for that yerkes.
With the latest version installed (30/12/2018 10:53 AM) the scenarios using non-attainable stock have been removed and the Up Riviera scenario now starts out of the box.
(So I guess it wasn't me that was creating the problems!
)
Thanks to the developers for fixing the problems so quickly. (Although I do wonder about what the testers were doing.)
John.

Re: Vulcan productions Christmas goodies
Cloning the scenario carries over the StartingSave.bin and associated .MD% files, but unticks the 'rolling start' option in the Scenario's marker. That gets round the issue of that StartingSave.bin conflicting with the ScenarioProperties.xml/Scenario.bin files when loading after changing stock. I've no idea what has been done to get the 'as supplied' scenario loading, as far as I was aware the only issue with it was that of not loading if you'd swapped stock.johnbarron wrote:I cloned it with the in-game editor.
Careful, the last time anything like that was put out in the open we had a right carry-on.johnbarron wrote: (Although I do wonder about what the testers were doing.)

No, the unmodified 'as supplied' scenario wouldn't load even if you had all of the required stock. At least it wouldn't for me. It's now been modified in the latest release version and runs right out of the box.gptech wrote:I've no idea what has been done to get the 'as supplied' scenario loading, as far as I was aware the only issue with it was that of not loading if you'd swapped stock.
Thanks for the description of what happens when a rolling-start scenario is cloned. That explains why my clone would run but not the original.

You're welcome...actually giving it a go has not only shown another way of getting round the issue but also added more weight to the theory that deleting the StartingSave files pair will cause no problems.johnbarron wrote:Thanks for the description of...

Re: Vulcan productions Christmas goodies
Just run into another problem with the 13/07/85 DMU 2C45 Newton Abbot - Exeter scenario.
On trying to start it I get:
Scenario - Broken consist found: - Log: -3.590494 Lat: 50.510906
Driver '1A73 13:46 Penzance-Paddington' at Lat 50.51090 Long -3.59049 - Inknown error -
Driver '1A73 13:46 Penzance-Paddington' at Lat 50.51090 Long -3.59049 - Invalid Consist -
RW_Tools tells me I have all of the required stock.
I can get around it by hitting F2 but I'd rather run the scenario as it was intended to run.
Any ideas on how to fix this? (Non-expert level please.

Re: Vulcan productions Christmas goodies
Not sure I can help with this one, John. The scenario loads ok for me straight out of the box. The service in question is the HST placed at the beginning of the scenario just past Aller Jct on the Totnes line. You could try editing the scenario (click on the 'Edit' option rather than pressing F2) and navigate there, then check that all the HST rolling stock items form a single consist?
My problem with the scenario is that the platform starter at Newton Abbot doesn't clear for me after that same service (i.e. Penzance-Paddington) has cleared the section.
The vagaries of TS!

Re: Vulcan productions Christmas goodies
I suspect that the consist is not placed correctly on the track (has the route/track been amended?). Instead of pressing F2, press Edit, and then go to the location of that consist. It may then be just a matter of selecting the train (shift-left click on any part of it), holding down the left mouse button, and moving it onto the track. Then F2, and drivejohnbarron wrote:Just run into another problem with the 13/07/85 DMU 2C45 Newton Abbot - Exeter scenario.

Re: Vulcan productions Christmas goodies
Thanks for the pointers guys. Much appreciated.
I managed to find the HST in the editor and it looked okay and connected.
I tried moving everything forward about a foot or so, one unit at a time.
I found that when some units were snugged up to the next unit there was a "clank" and then a "clunk" as I let go of the mouse button. For some units there was no clank, just a clunk.
However, after my first effort the second and third error messages didn't appear again, just the broken consist one. So I tried again and it now runs.
Interesting that consists are broken on one machine but not on another. (I haven't modified anything from the download.)
Michael, for me the HST pulled into the next platform at Newton Abbot and left just as I arrived. The signal had cleared by the time I was ready to depart. As you say, the vagaries of TS.
Thanks again.
