Is it possible to run the scenarios from Riviera 50s on this route?

I've copied the scenario folders across but when I try to run them the Route Markers are missing. Is it possible to copy the Riviera 50s Route Markers over to this route? If so, a beginner's guide of how to do it would be appreciated.

P.S. I can't run any of the included scenarios because I don't have a lot of the stock. I've tried swapping the stock with RW_Tools but that doesn't seem to work.

In theory, yes. The manual outlines what changes Mark has made, and from memory those changes to track have been more detailing, more accurate depiction for this time period, rather than huge changes in where the track actually lies. You may find some services aren't sat on the track correctly and would need putting back into position in the game's editor.

They're not the route markers, at least not in the usual sense of Route Markers denoting an area we can select in the navigator/start location for a scenario. What you're missing are the destination/siding/platform markers that are part of the track work.
For example, "Exeter Platform 1" may be the name of a platform marker in the original route. If Exeter gets re-worked and the marker's name is changed to "Exeter platform 1" then scenarios calling for a stop at Platform 1 will fail with the missing marker message. the difference between P and p is enough to make it a completely different marker.
It can be a time consuming job, but it's not impossible to port scenarios over from one version of a route to another by working through the instructions for each service in the Scenario Editor--essentially working through the steps needed to create a scenario initially.

In what way doesn't it work?....name a scenario so we could have a look.
We briefly touched upon this earlier in the thread.... http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 4#p1850923

Just a quick one to say thanks v much for these. I especially like the grass pack, a must have for route builders imo....it breathes new life into the sim regarding near track vegetation, as can be seen by its use in their excellent new route....nice one!

I tried swapping stock in the Up Riviera scenario using RW_Tools.

After seemingly successfully swapping all of the stock in the consists that show up in the scenario editor, I then ran it through the scenario checker in RW_Tools. It still showed one AP carriage on the list of used stock. I couldn't figure out how to replace it since it didn't show up in the scenario editor.

When I tried to run the modified version it just crashed.

Had you taken the "rolling start" feature out of the equation? http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... e#p1850920

This scenario ( de6ad7a8-86c6-4be9-8bf3-020e2eb9ca7c ) is a "rolling start" variant, so swapping stock with RW Tools only does half the job---the information contained in StartingSave.bin won't match that in ScenarioProperties.xml/Scenario.bin. You need to drop into the editor and untick the 'rolling start' box. If you cant get in the editor, then deleting the StartingSave.bin file may work.
I've just downloaded and installed the route, swapped the stock in the scenario and get an immediate crash when attempting to play...now I'll try my above advice....

EDIT: Yep. unticking the 'rolling start' box works and drops me straight in the cab of the HST.
If you cannot get into the editor (because you lack some stock) then you may be able to amend the ScenarioProperties.xml, by changing

Code: Select all

	<HasRollingStart d:type="bool">1</HasRollingStart>
to

Code: Select all

	<HasRollingStart d:type="bool">0</HasRollingStart>
Not too sure about deleting StartingSave.bin

I always remove the .MD5 files after making such adjustments

Never tried it myself Nick, but as a scenario isn't a rolling start one until Ctrl and F2 are pressed during game play no matter how long the feature's been abled in the scenario properties, it seems logical that the lack of a StartingSave.bin just takes it back to that original state. I do the same as you with MD5 files, probably a bit "belt and braces" but better safe than sorry--doesn't give the game any chance to detect that something's missing (if it does/can of course) and without the main file they're a waste of space anyway..

Well, after forking out for the stock I didn't already have, according to the list included with the route, I still can't run scenarios.

For example, when I run the Up Riviera scenario through RW_Tools, it tells me I'm missing:

Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\HST\BRIC125_AP\Class43\class43.bin
Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\HST\BRIC125_AP\Mk3\1\2\Mk3TFO\mk3tfo_ic.bin
Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\HST\BRIC125_AP\Mk3\1\2\Mk3TRFB\mk3trfb_ic.bin
Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\HST\BRIC125_AP\Mk3\1\2\Mk3TSO\mk3tgs_ic.bin
Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\HST\BRIC125_AP\Mk3\1\2\Mk3TSO\mk3tso_ic.bin

These look nothing like the structure of my Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\HST\BRIC125_AP folder.

Did the scenario author have the stock in a non-standard place?

Have you got the AP Valenta extra stock installed?

Thanks for all of the help so far. This is a list of the stock I have been unable to find, despite looking all over:

DTG\WoodheadBR\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class08\VP_Tinsley\Engine\Class 08.bin
IHH\Class_45 Peak\RailVehicles\Class_45\Blue Late\Engine\Class_45_Late_Blue_engine blueprint.bin
Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class37\37025LL\Engine\class37.bin
Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class47\Blue - 47010\Engine\class47_br.bin
Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class47\Blue - 47032\Engine\class47_br.bin
Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class47_rf2\BlueNoHL\Engine\class47_br4_Dom.bin
RSC\Class31Pack01\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class31\VP-31128_FG\Engine\Class 31.bin
RSC\Class52Pack01\RailVehicles\Class_52\BR-Blue_1041_AP\Engine\Class_52_Engine.bin

Pointers much appreciated.

Me again.

I now have all of the stock for the Up Riviera (according to RW_Tools) but it won't run.

When I try to start it I get a message:

Driver '1A43 11:35 Penzance-Paddington "The Cornish Riviera Express"'at Lat 50.50470 Long -3.59707 - Marker has missing ribbons - Exeter St Davids Platform 5

Any ideas what's causing that and how I can fix it?

P.S. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the route but that hasn't helped.

Is this with the latest version of the route, or the original offering?
