I've posted this on the Facebook page, and thought it might get some responses here.

I just had a little drive from Ben Rhydding (where I used to live) to Skipton - very enjoyable and recognisable. A couple of distant signals were on, causing panic braking, even though the subsequent home signals were off.

I'm missing a few assets, listed below if anyone can help locate them. Ken Long's 3ds\farm assets are not in the Farming1.zip and his diorama1 has been replaced by a new files installing to a different location.

The pawerbys file referred to in the readme doesn't appear to contain the required PR_Clutter assets.

Many of the references to SAD's Foliage Pack are not to the original files, but to duplicates in the same folder, usually with (2) added to the filename - I used RW Tools to replace these with the originals. It would be helpful if that could be done by John Ozelton.

A few double standards flying around here. "I don't want to be on Facebook and that's my right" . . . and . . . "the group SHOULD allow anyone in and not place restrictions, and SHOULD make the route more freely available" (paraphrasing, but I believe an accurate interpretation of comments!)

Who's calling the shots here? Just do your own thing, have your own opinions, but don't suggest others should fall in line with yours! On the other hand, if YOU refuse to entertain Facebook, then you are missing out on a lot, even specific to TS, let alone other interests you might have . . . and that includes the ability to access this new route being discussed!

No point in trying to correct each other, that's like trying to tell someone their political opinions are wrong1

Via Facebook I have come across some reskins and items that have not been released here or elsewhere.

But have you been able to view those offerings without signing up to Facebook Peter?

Having to sign up to any service/site/group, just as here at UKTS, to download *goodies* isn't the problem--we couldn't expect anything else--but having to sign in anywhere to see what's available doesn't give anyone the choice of *joining in* because said site has stuff we'd like.

A lot depends if the person owning the page allows people to see their content

With this page is does nag you to join Facebook but you can say Not now.
https://www.facebook.com/BHReskins/
Clicking on a picture takes you to the Download page
https://www.facebook.com/pg/BHReskins/p ... e_internal

The 185 is on this page
https://jakesrailworksaddons.webs.com/downloads.htm
You don't need to sign up to download
And the 185 is the Class 185 'Desiro' Pack which needs the GEML for it to work as it uses the Class 360 Cab

To use a Trumpism, I do find it 'very sad' that this thread has mostly been about polarised views on using Facebook rather than on the route itself. I hate to think what the comments would be if it was on Twitter! I use both of them a lot myself, even though I've reached the grand old age of 75 recently, so my bias might show if I say any more.

But how can they give a view on the route itself if they don't have it because they don't use Facebook? :D

I personally don't use Facebook and it's banned from our household for good (personal) reason so i'll do without these routes. My loss.

Is that because of the use of Facebook (or any other "closed totally, you can't even see what we do unless you join" site)?
We can't shy away from these *polarised* discussions Alan, how can we find the middle ground if we don't determine the extremes?

Like skyline, I have personal reasons for not using Facebook, but that's my decision and if it means that I miss out on things then so be it. I doubt anything would motivate me enough to change my thinking, but being able to see what's available would be a good start. However, as skyline has pointed out, the reskins that have been shown can be acquired without needing to sign in to Facebook---is that method the *middle ground* that suits most?

The route is actually available from Mediafire here http://www.mediafire.com/file/aj3sc0h8e ... ailway.zip

Yes Alan, but without that information being posted in here (http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... d250d563c3) you'd have to be a Facebook user and a member of the group to find out. What about those who don't know about UKTS, or refuse to visit it for some deep seated (possibly paranoid) reason?
The whole issue/problem with any kind of *closed group/site/community* is that it's exactly that---closed.

In the past some members have left UKTS for their own reasons
Maybe somebody who is running the Facebook page the Skipton and Wharfdale Route does not like UKTS for some reason?

The newer simmers find they need something that is available on UKTS and then find they are waiting for a slow download.
Although the cost of a UKTS Subscription is relatively low they still have to sign up with a credit card to get the download or wait.

So there is a growing trend for people to post on other sites - DPS & VP come to mind - where there is no waiting and no registering.

Just an observation

Peter

FYI Matt Peddleston has eventually yielded to using PayPal for payment of subscriptions (which are only £2.50 for a month, giving plenty of time to download all you want - though I buy the annual subscription) and promises it will be in place shortly (as posted on one of the FB sites)

That is a definite improvement :)

Hi All,

I didn't intend to start a hare regarding Facebook. I now understand that the Facebook group is a closed one and that is quite understandable. However, not being a member of Facebook I did not appreciate this. I posed my question as, in the the past, I have been able to download some of Jetgriffs regular route updates via his Facebook pages and I guess I wondered if this facility was available to access the Skipton and Wharfdale Route. I do have genuine personal reasons for not wishing to join Facebook and happily accept the limits this places on my life. There will always be routes that are unavailable for one reason or another.

Many thanks for the replies I found them very interesting.

I posted the link for the route above - it is available from Mediafire.
