Doesn't Woodhead in Blue count?

But the title refers to Manchester to Leeds and the new Woodhead is just the old Woodhead with so many errors it is just Cr@p Work by DTG.

Admittedly I don't know the area and I was six when the Woodhead closed but I think that is a bit harsh to be honest.

It seems a well detailed route to me with decent sounds and seems to have what I would perceive to be the feel of the area and era, the stock in particular is well modelled.

Obviously if you know the area well then errors might jump out but I don't think you can ever expect 100% accuracy.

It's just shoddy work in updating the route which is set in the 1970's
Manchester Piccadilly had a power box installed in 1958 but less than 1 mile from the station are semaphore signals and an old box.
They did not bother changing the track layout and you can only run on the East lines - no AI on the other lines.
The signals in the station don't work correctly - no route indicators
And at Godley Jn the Up Line signal before the Box has it's route link in the Down line so it's always at Red and you can't TAB past it

Like you say the Stock is very good an a real improvement on the earlier locos but if the railway you are driving on is just wrong it just takes away the enjoyment.

The answer is yes. I have been keeping up with it on Trainsimdev and Youtube,

Although I respect Peter's ideaology to have this route in both versions of the game, don't forget that we have West Somerset, for example, now in both codes, which is absolutely rubbish in TS18 quality standard wise, yet, it's on a different level in TSW, is that what we'd get with Manchester - Leeds in both versions, nobody can guarantee anything can they, if so, then, I wouldn't be interested!!!!

Cheerz. Steve.

The links can be moved...….

Do you have a DTG route you're happy with Peter?...a serious question, not one designed to trip you up or anything.

I have a lot of routes I'm happy with. And I did change that link but I'm unable to fix the errors outside Piccadilly

It's a Train Driving Game - so the part you expect to work are the ways you can or cannot drive along the tracks and the Signals to Control the trains.
When they get these two Basic parts wrong it spoils the route.

You get a Freeware route and you find the Author has used assets from other lines whilst not being correct are perfectly acceptable.
They also go to the trouble of making sure the Track is right, Directionality, Speed, Electrification and they also check the Signals are correct, with the right links and indications.
The North Wales Coast BR Blue is a good example of the time and care that has been put in to making a Freeware route.

But DTG just made a hash of the BR Blue Woodhead line.
Errors in Track Directionality, Electrification, Signalling and Track Layout.
So where it had all the correct looking buildings and Signalboxes and Reddish Depot etc it falls down on just the Basic parts.

I would love to run a Scenario where you arrive in Platform 2 at Piccadilly as another train departs from Platform 1 and at the same time AC Electrics run on the Fast and Slow lines in and out of the Station.
Cannot do that - It might look nice - if you don't know the area. I worked at Piccadilly for 18 years and I know what it should look like.

That would definitely get me interested but this might be enough to do the trick.

You obviously haven't downloaded the same freeware routes as I have. Don't forget that there's at least one freeware route in the UKTS library that was pretty dire when initially released; it's only since it's had upgrades--many suggested, or even implemented by other members rather than the route author--that it's become anything near the routes you see through those rose tinted specs.

It's a splendid example of a freeware re-work of an existing route---Nick and Andy have done a cracking job on it, but would you have it on your hard drive if they'd had to start from scratch?

I'm going to take that as a challenge!

Here you go...it's short and simple but fulfils your criteria.

Excellent scenario Gary - leaving aside the intention (the "challenge") its length also perfectly matches my attention span before I  - more please :D

I did resort to RW Tools after a search didn't turn up the 86 or 87 - only took 5 minutes to sort out :)
