Yeah, i *think* i've sussed it out a bit more, i didn't realise that i had to select which settings i did/didn't want and then click the install button . Things seem to be a lot better, still got have a bit of a play arround and see whats what. Not going anywhere near SSAO!

Mixed views on this so far. It looks good and runs smoothly with if anything slightly better frame rates (without SSAO). Night time looks better with the exception of some of the stanchion lights which still flicker dreadfully (try Bonn Hbf for a particularly bad example). I had to turn off the fog changes because that produces the electric-blue "glow in the dark" distant hills. Some of the enhanced reflections are rather OTT; the ai TTB 443 ends up with a bright white windscreen for example. I tried procedural flora, which I don't usually use, but that has a noticeable change in texture/colour sweeping about a hundred yards in front of the train.

Installed the RWE shaders using the default settings, it looks better, no problem with that, but the TS is no longer as fluid as it used to be, you can see some minor stuttering especially on the edges of objects and on the horizon. Reverted back. To me this spoils the experience despite the better visuals. Asked for a refund, not sure they will be willing to provide it though... :(

I'm running with a 30 FPS cap, vsync on and SSAA, this gives me a very fluid motion in TS so perhaps I am more sensitive than others in this regard and I believe many others may just be very happy with the product. TS definitely looks better with it, that's for sure...
Although this tool makes my TS look outstanding, I too have a quite noticeable performance hit, but that said i'm not 100% sure what most of the settings in the tool do!! :o . I need an idiots guide! So i have reverted back for now, TS runs comfortably for me on all max settings bar shadows and water. I haven't given up on it, i just need to know more about what i am doing!

That's a misunderstanding - I don't have a performance issue, my FPS are exactly the same. I just get a strange microstutter when the new shaders are applied (tried with SSAO on, will try other options when I get to it).

Where is SSAO found is that in game or the Nvidia control panel?

It is a shader enhancer part of RW_Enhancer and is applied to TS2019.
It is NOT part of TS or nVidia CP.

Is SSAO mostly CPU or GPU?

The gpu tends to apply shaders, but the data has to be first processed by the cpu.
So if you do not have a balanced system the cpu may throttle the gpu.
What ever happens in computing the gpu cannot act until receives data (fast enough) from the cpu.

Thanks Peter

I have RW_Enhancer installed and I have found SSAO in the program.

Thanks - so like shadows it increases load on both (which makes sense as it's basically a shadow effect). My system has GPU to spare but tends to be CPU limited for TS, so (for demanding routes at least) I'd probably best disable SSAO then. Useful to understand.

Another update today.
