Luib to Strathyre with Killin and Lochearnhead
WHW V1.2 Luib to Strathyre with Killin and Lochearnhead
A Route for TS2019
by
Stewart Parker and Alan Pendlebury
This second release of our WHW (West Highland Wandering) project includes our previously released Luib to Glenoglehead and Killin Branch section of the route and continues the Callander and Oban (C&O) Main Line down through Glen Ogle and via Balquhidder Junction to Strathyre. It also features the Balquhidder to Lochearnhead section of the Lochearnhead, St Fillans and Comrie Railway Line. We are currently working on continuing the latter railway as far as St Fillans and Dalchonzie, work on that section is already well advanced and we hope to release it soon. Further sections of the C&O Main Line and the Crieff Lines are planned for succesive releases in the future.
The route is basically set in the 1950's - 60's BR period but we have exercised a certain amount of artistic licence by including stations and track that had actually been closed before that date, we feel (hope) this increases the operating interest of the route.
The route is currently available on the route Facebook Page
The Trains now Departed: Bygone Highways and Byways for Train Simulator
A list of the requirements and install instructions are included in the download.

Great work Stewart - a part of my childhood (experienced through my father's memories) - thank you so much for your inspired modelling and for sharing the excellent results

Re: Luib to Strathyre with Killin and Lochearnhead
Hi Sparker,
I am having trouble with this extended version.
Originally I had it installed on my 2018 v62.8b installation, which was a copy i put onto a larger HDD and had troubles with a faulty copy of the West Highland Line South.
That has now been rectified, but I was still having the game crash as I added a number of CR rolling stock from DT and Victorian Lad.
So I decided to install all the necessary requirements to my fresh 2019 64bit installation as well I verified the Local Files of the game.
I was still getting a crash after setting up a simple Standard scenario from Luib to Strathyre with the CR class 294 Jumbo and about 8 wagons.
I dropped my Graphics setting from Highest to Medium and still the game crashes.
Here is the crash notification:
I was wondering if the number of assets you have included is the cause?
Roland.

Re: Luib to Strathyre with Killin and Lochearnhead
Hi Sparker,
I managed to get the scenario to run when I set the Graphics to Lowest, with all boxes unticked. Trouble is that spoils the look of the route.
So I bumped the Graphics to Medium, but another Crash.
So my final move was to drop it to Low, but unfortunately another crash.
If I can't get it sorted, I will uninstall it and replace it with your original Killin Branch which ran perfectly well.
I do hope it can be sorted.
It may even be something at my end?
Maybe the crash report I sent to Kayako will come back with an answer?
Roland.

Re: Luib to Strathyre with Killin and Lochearnhead
Hi Roland
The problems you reported in your other 'Falmouth Branch issues developed on Early Installation' thread and the continuing problems you mention here would suggest your problem is with one or both of your Train Simulator installations. The Luib to Strathyre route has been tested on TS2018 and TS2019 (both 32 and 64 bit versions) and (so far) no one else has had the problems you are having. The 'Divide by Zero' error is a common one in TS and is not specific to our route. Reporting a freeware route as a source of an error to DTG is pointless as they take no responsibility for such routes. I would be happy to help you out with the route but I would prefer to do that via the Trains Now Departed facebook page. As you are a member you can post questions and contact me there.
Regards
Al

Roland...
Can you use those CR items in other routes?
It's far too early to say that the route may have an issue, it's just as plausible that the stock you used has issues, and given that your installations can be viewed as still being a wee bit flakey you need to investigate every possible, and even the impossible, factors.

Hi Gary, I will try the route with something from RSC like the class 101.gptech wrote:Roland...

I have had problems before trying to add CR rolling stock to the large Steaming over Beattock route, but that was on my early installation. I put it down to my liking to use the Graphics setting on High, even on this rather extensive route.
I will get back shortly.
Roland.

Re: Luib to Strathyre with Killin and Lochearnhead
Well whatever was going wrong with my installation and this route, all is now looking perfect.
What did I do?
Early this morning before breakfast I decided to do something I have never done before with any PC I have owned since my XP system back in 2004 or was it 2005?
What I did do this morning was to run a program that I had always been dubious about. I ran Disk Clean-up on my "C" Drive, which is where I have my Steam Installation, although my TS2019 is on another 2TB HDD.
I was going to run Disk Clean-up on that 2TB drive as well, but did not do so.
After my last two posts I got work on a simple scenario running the RSC BR class 101 from Luib to Strathyre. My Graphics was set for Low with none of the boxes ticked.
The scenario ran fine {but naturally the scenery looked awful} So I upped the Graphics to medium, once again the scenario ran fine. Same on High and Gradual Procedure ticked, still no issues.
So I decided to go all out with the Graphics on Maximum and all boxes ticked. Still the scenario worked with no issues.
Okay now to try the previous simple scenario with the CR 294 Class "Jumbo" and 7 Caledonian wagons, that kept causing the scenario to crash yesterday even with the graphics turned way down.
Blow me down it ran perfectly fine and now the Graphics are maxed out.
Since then I have added 2 class 121 "Bubble" cars and two CR class 600 Goods trains, as AI, to the mix of my class 101 scenario. It Ran perfectly fine.
All Looks Good in the my TS2019 world.
The only thing I can think of there must have been some sort of issue with rubbish in my "C" drive
