They were occasional visitors to the Western Region on East Midlands - South Coast workings so the Banbury - Oxford section of the Wycombe Railway & Joint Line from the same link is also a possibility.

Strictly speaking, Michael is correct. In this context, Navies is right. " In more general, commonly used, contexts, the plural form will also be navy. However, in more specific contexts, the plural form can also be navies e.g. in reference to various types of navies or a collection of navies." So we have a collection of "Merchant Navy" locomotives.

PS The canal builders were navvies.

Depending on speed, turning on the blower on a bit more and keeping the dampers fully open will help keep the pressure in the boiler whilst the injectors are on.

I used to see them on the WCML from Euston to the north - in the absence of steam age routes for the southern part of the WCML, Steaming Over Shap would be a good candidate.

so mainly WCML up to Preston. But they did go on longer trips (I saw them in Carlisle and Hellifield) so Steaming over Shap and a steam age version of Settle to Carlisle are good to go. Also along the North Wales Coast (a Steaming version of this is under way)
