Cantilevered canopy puzzle

I am in the process of making the old GWR Devonport Albert RD. station for the Glorious Devon Plymouth-Okehampton-Exeter route. A picture of the station can be found here:

What puzzles me is that there appears to be a large, heavy peaked roof canopy on both the up and down platforms that have absolutely no visual supports. How do they do it?

Any info will be appreciated since I would like this station to look somewhat like the original.

Cheers. Mike.

This similar image on Ebay might help (click on the image for a full screen view) : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Devonport-Al ... 1894895006

Looks like the platform canopy on the left has large upright support girders at the rear and then there is a building that protrudes out half way along the platform that also supports it .
