Re: TS2019 will be 64 bit!
My first impressions are good, as I mentioned in another thread I had given up with TS for almost a year, but watched the feedback on the update and can only echo most peoples comments, its much improved. I ran a scenario on the South London Line in the highest settings and the FPS were great. I ran a stormy scenario and the weather patterns didn't look as bad as I remember but overall FPS were much better and very few stutters. No crashes when I paused the game to go in to something away from TS so that's an improvement. Not sure how good the AP soundpacks are but I may need to reinstall them I forget how far I bothered when doing a reinstall before I gave up last year.
Anyway, as others have said, it has given the simulator legs for a few years and I may start to spend money again on something I enjoyed once.
So thank you DTG - Just wish you had done it years ago

Your path must be, I use the default. The quote has to be exactly as shown

Well I have just managed to drive past Heaton on the JT route for the first time ever, frame rates did drop to 14fps but that isn't a surprise.

I have say a huge thank you to DTG for this update, I have tested JT Western MainLines which is route that I love but have always struggled with, now I have settings on full and it runs like a dream, well the best if ever has done really. There is a slight stutter every now again but only for a second, before it was like two or three seconds and then it crashed. Looking forward to driving from Paddington to Plymouth in one go – that is if I have the time to do it!

Really pleased with the update, have been running in 64 bit for most of the day and haven’t had one crash (usually it crashes 5/10 times depending on what I’m doing. Think I’ll definately be doing a Paddington to Penzance trip at some point, that’ll definately push it to its limits.

Re: TS2019 will be 64 bit!
For the routes that come as a .ap archive, simply deleting the files that are outside of the archive will revert the route back---how easy that is to determine does of course depend on which files you may have extracted for other purposes.ihavenonamenoreallyidont wrote:Anyone know a quick way of removing the AP Stability Pack without doing a full file verification?
Routes without the benefit of a 'built in .ap backup' would need more care, and possibly the re-acquisition of those routes (un-tick in your Steam library, when it's gone re-instate the tick to download a fresh copy---back up what you have now so you can port over any other modifications you may have made/appled) Of course, if you had a backup of the routes before applying the AP pack restoring that'd be the easiest way.
If you run the AP installer again, this time pointing to a location outside the game then you'll have a nice reference copy so you can see just what it does install, and be able to work out what to do/remove/re-acquire on a per-route basis.

Re: TS2019 will be 64 bit!
Hi, Gary. Thanks for that. I just did it by ticking and unticking each relevant route as DLC in the end. No changes or modifications applied other than those by AP. Hopefully this will have resolved each route, although not sure if the AP pack also changed anything from a global perspective.
It's not the end of the world if I have to re-download everything (the easy part), it's just a bit of a time sink reinstalling it all, even to an SSD drive. As I said, first world problems and a better problem to have than the previous alternative of some scenarios not loading.

Re: TS2019 will be 64 bit!
A very positive experience here - I haven't yet found a scenario that crashes or refuses to load, and FPS figures are up by, I'd say, around 20%.
The only niggling problem is that try as I might, I cannot get TS2019 to run from a desktop icon, having to always fire it up from within Steam. I've followed the advice in the various threads and have set up a fresh desktop shortcut that points to the Railworks64.exe file, and have set that to run as administrator, but no luck yet.
Does anyone have any ideas?

The only thing I have done slightly different is to create the shortcut to RailWorks64.exe from the file in the \Steam\steamapps\common\railworks folder and moved it to the Desktop.ashgray wrote:A very positive experience here - I haven't yet found a scenario that crashes or refuses to load, and FPS figures are up by, I'd say, around 20%.

I did not make it run as Administrator and it asks when it starts, like the 32bit version, if I want to allow the program to make changes on this computer where I say NO.
Running as Administrator removes that option and it tries to install DirectX 9 - again

Re: TS2019 will be 64 bit!
If you're invites to elevate to admin privileges when starting TS you either have it in the default directory or you have access permissions all messed up. If you're repeatedly getting a DX install then you certainly do have problems.
Whichever it is though, it's fixable-----the hard part is working out what needs fixing.

Re: TS2019 will be 64 bit!
Possibly nothing to do with the update but given some issues raised on other TS2019 threads here it would be wise to back up routes before editing them in the 64-bit version.

Re: TS2019 will be 64 bit!
All I can tell you Ash is what i done to start from desktop link. I created a shortcut in the railworks folder from the 64-bit.exe file and cut and pasted to desktop. No administrator privileged ticked. It runs fine.ashgray wrote:A very positive experience here - I haven't yet found a scenario that crashes or refuses to load, and FPS figures are up by, I'd say, around 20%.

Someone asked me to say how I did it with the commands as well a bit back in thread. I created the shortcut and put the commands in it and all works fine.ashgray wrote:A very positive experience here - I haven't yet found a scenario that crashes or refuses to load, and FPS figures are up by, I'd say, around 20%.

Re: TS2019 will be 64 bit!
My flabber is garsted
I know I'm a luddite, as I've had my PC since March 2011 and stuck with Win7-64bit, only adding an extra 8GB of RAM since then. I'm not a heavy TS user and mainly go for QD's to relax. So when I saw the DTG TS19 recommended specs for minimum 32bit operation, which far exceeds my specs, I realised that I will now have to replace my "ancient" computer. Oh and forget 64bit operation, as the DTG recommended spec is way out there!
Well, naively I thought I'd try the 32bit version, so logged on today and let Steam do the 2.3GB download. Then I fired up (no pun intended) the 32bit version and it behaves beautifully, just like TS18, with no changes to my settings, which was totally unexpected and made me a happy bunny. So what would you do now? Yes, (thanks to SkylineBoy's suggestion) I then created a shortcut to railworks64.exe on the desktop and duly clicked it, fully expecting a BSoD message. Guess what - it behaves beautifully, just like TS18 / TS19-32bit and I'm getting 48-50fps. I've now picked my Jaw off the floor and thank DTG for a great product. So if any of you out there with a low spec PC (or Laptop etc) like mine, I'd say give it a go, you just may be lucky like me.
