So hi guys, I guess I'll have to do some explaining. I am MCGermanyFan, news writer for the German forums and I am the one who shared TrainSim-Luke's message.
The closed beta is for Dovetail employees and QAs only, you cannot join the beta branch.

I am sorry if I confused some a little.

An interesting piece of information from ChrisTrains over on the German website News section -

TS2019 comes out in two weeks time. Some beta testers have made me aware that the change to 64bit is breaking a lot of the script files, including my license protection and potentially the LUA scripts for things like ATB and ETCS. I will try to get new installers and patches ready before release, but please be aware that there is a very good chance that ChrisTrains products will not work with TS2019 on release day.

I wonder if there will be any other anomolies, especially with payware content from our 3rd party developers.

Cheerz. Steve.

According to DtG it supports both so it shouldn't be an issue? But, the plans of mice and men!!!? :)

I'm a bit surprised these things will break with the upgrade. Let's hope that DTG themselves can do something to fix these issues in the core game.

Makes me worried now about potential breakage in all these highly scripted advanced locos I like to drive, or signal scripts. Oops.

Let's wait and see what the 11th will bring.

Cheers,

So all exactly as I feared... this is what I posted on the DTG forum a few days back, no answer yet...

---------------------------------------------------------------
TS19 - Will The 32-bit Version Remain Untouched?

We all know now that the 64-bit version is coming and it will be installed alongside the 32-bit version. However in one of the articles I read that there will be some other improvements too. What I'd like to know (and many others perhaps too) is whether the 32-bit version will remain as it is and all the improvements will be applied to the 64-bit only or it will go into 32-bit as well? If the latter then I urge you to keep the current version still available as an alternate within the steam beta choices, at least for some time - until all bugs are resolved.

I myself would welcome if the improvements go to the 64-bit version only; so that the 32-bit remains as a safe haven - although there are bugs, sure, but things work reasonably well now and I wouldn't like to lose all my collection to which I invested quite a lot because of a buggy release. We all know it happened in the past - choppy sound in TS13 (took 3 months to fix), bad lighting in tunnels in TS14 (took about a month to fix, luckily the community found a fix in a few days), bad horizon colours in routes ("white hills") in TS15 (took almost a year to fix)...to name but a few (not to mention flickering in-cab shadows that have never been fixed). Frankly if the 32-bit gets an update too, I am very worried about the outcome. I will certainly make a full backup, but it's hard to maintain it over time if the fix takes a year to be released.

Thank you very much.

To put things in perspective, Chris is the only one I know of using scripts for licence protection, making it a very non-standard way of producing content, and note the use of the word "potentially" in reference to the ATB and ETCS scripting.

One thing I woukd like to ask as I am not a computer expert.
When the game was 32bit, do it also have limited access to GPU memory?

If you were running TS2018 using Windows 64-bit OS - NO! (Tiny amount used - not significant).
If you were running TS2018 using Windows 32-bit OS - YES and it would also deplete the VAS and cause a crash.
