Martin I thought of trying that, just to see what happens but I’m not keen on a black bar between the two monitors. I'm just about to go and get a 4k monitor that is the same width and height as my two 19" 4x3 monitors running one big monitor seems the way to go but I want to try a 4k TV first as monitors are expensive.

I think Peters idea about the Hyper threading has done the trick everything is like liquid smooth at last, :D funny my old P4 Core 2 Duo didn’t have hyperT either and also was very smooth, the M.2 SSD drives are coping well and on a couple of notorious tile loading in Longmoor and stalls at tile changes has almost gone too. 64bit should now be the icing on the cake.
Regards to all that suggested things and I hope others might have picked up the odd idea or two

If you are going to get a mew monitor - look at GSync monitors - they eliminate tearing and remove the latency between the cpu and the gpu and minimise stutter!
My new guide will detail best settings for TS.

Sorry to flog a dead horse - but PhysX in TS 2018 will ONLY work on the cpu as there is NO code for it to work on the gpu.
Setting it on the GPU will make absolutely no difference - it won't work!!

Thanks Peter I will.
Look forward to seeing the Guide.
I hear what you say about the code and PhysX and wonder what (if any) advantage there is in NVidia cards then :(
