Mike
I am also having issues with the version 8 update
In GD1958 when you run the Route Build Tool and use the check selected route option
The route is checked with no issue but as soon as the scenarios are checked it finds loft error issues with one tile on all the scenarios

I have reverted back to the previous version 7 full download
RW_Tools_Full7.zip
This has the errors I described before but is fixed by adding the RW_Tools7034 patch

The patched version works fine and would be the quick solution to your time issues
Update the full version with the RW_Tools7034 patch and suggest people use this version until you have time to find a solution to the version 8 issues

Milkymackay's 1M10 scenarios for WCML North. Try replacing one of the electric locos with the ICS Class 86/2 bundled in my Sussex Scot scenario (also for WCML North)

After a complete re-install of TS2018 and RW_Tools it SEEMS the problem does not appear anymore, but the existing scenarios are still broken - a loco number still appears in stead of the actual message meant to be displayed. Nothing I have tried remedies this (I have deleted the "stop at" instruction and recreated it, among other things), so I fear the scenarios will have to be redone from scratch :-(

So in this case, the problem had nothing to do with RW_Tools?

Hi Ausc,
1. What is GD1958
2. The version of RW_Tools to be used is always the 'Full version' plus the latest patch,
3. What 'time issues' in v8... ? The only difference in v8 compared with v7.0.34 is the addition of the .ap editor, no other files were changed.

Glorious Devon 1958 Mike; I'd be interested to read your honest opinion of whether this route is a *good* yard stick to use when testing RW Tools, as far as I'm concerned it has it's own peculiar issues that could/would cloud any investigation (or at least it did when I looked at it, there's a rather long, and sometimes heated, thread about it in here)
You can get it at https://www.dpsimulation.org.uk/routes.html

Ausc, same question to you that I asked USRailFan, can you get the same issue when checking another route?
Perhaps the loft issues RW Tools is reporting are actual errors that the new version detects but the older didn't?---hiding the error message doesn't make the error go away, it only makes the tester feel better about what he/she is checking. Don't forget that RW Tools threw up the loader issue for many months, and despite not being anything that was *important* as it never stopped the route working as it should, it was perceived as a critical error by many, yourself included.

Of course it will, the information a scenario contains won't be changed by altering something else. Once a scenario, or route, or any file, is saved after a change it doesn't matter what you check it with--that checking tool can only report what it finds.

Mike
Glorious Devon 1958 1.3 is available from DPSimulation
This is a custom route with quite a few downloads
The version of RW_Tools to be used is always the 'Full version' plus the latest patch
That is a bit tricky having to patch a full download was not expecting that

I will put the V8 patch back in and run the Route Check again

Mike the issue has disappeared but I have moved RWTools to my E: dive where the Railworks folder lives

I check to see if registering the SuperPicture2.ocx works in E: drive,
Still need to run in Admin mode to register the program

All appears to be working now

Mike
I just downloaded the latest Route from wotawallysbits
http://www.wotawallysbits.co.uk/steaming-over-shap

Just getting the route up and running
Run the Find all .ap Files tool

Extract all Route Properties
Extract all Rolling Stock
Extract all Scenarios

This issue your left with is extra .bin files and the route .xml file need to be unpacked from the .ap file
After removing duplicates there is 27 extra .bin files required to be extracted to allow the .ap file to be packed

This is not an Version 8 error but a addition to be added in the future
Another useful feature would be to able to convert files to a spreadsheet
In regard to the views for Rwtools can you provide a option to set the views in the left or right of the screen
I use two document on my screen all the time and being able to set Rwtools screens with a left or right bias would be very useful

Thanks for a great tool and continued development
Sorry for the false alarm

Mike
do apologies for adding the post here
RW Tools, as far as I'm concerned it has it's own peculiar issues that could/would cloud any investigation
Gptech good to see you post you personal issues with Glorious Devon
Please post the issues you see need addressing with GD1958 to a new or existing thread
I am more than happy to look at each of the the issues and address them before the next release

I have spent considerable time in the last week doing just that
Now Rwtools shows no error for the route which I am very pleased to achieve

Gptech I have said this before that your assistance to resolve Train Sim issues is invaluable and a great asset to the Forum
Please have just try and keep your post positive to assist rather than denigrate

Strange - the route "Steaming over Shap" is NOT contained within an .ap file. It does require WCMLoS and WVR whose assets are held in .ap files, but their RouteProperties.xml files are NOT required for this route to run. If you are wishing to pack the route into an .ap file, I fail to see your reasoning. I will not be sending out updates in this form, nor testing whether you have a valid copy! If you run the route, as supplied, through RWTools "Route Building Tools > Check Route and Scenarios", you will get a full list of Assets used. You can also get a full list of stock used in the scenarios.

I am not try to pack your route to a .ap file
This is a Rwtools thread and to use Rwtools for route checking it need to have access to the .bin and .xml files for all the assets required to verify they exist
This is a method to confirm asset and allow scenario editing
I am not suggesting there is an issue with your route

Working with asset in .ap files is the method that needs to be promoted
To achieve this result I believe that extracting the .bin file allows Rwtools access and the error list will reduce to nil
Confirming the route and all assets are present is quite common on custom routes
I am asking Mike to consider adding a extra function to allow this process to be a simple one button option

Nick do you run Steam over Shap with WCMLoS and WVR packed or unpacked?

Hi Ausc

Sorry, did not quite realise what you were trying to do, or what you were asking of Mike. I would have thought the topic should have been in the dedicated RWTools thread!
I keep all my Steam DLC in a "vanilla" version on a separate installation on a different drive to my working version. In the vanilla version, all the routes and assets are kept in their .ap files. I do not use this version to run TS, but only as a link with my Steam account. My working version only contains unpacked files (I extract from the .ap file, then delete that .ap file) Hence, the answer to your question is "yes"

regards

Not exactly issues I'm having, as the route isn't one for me. Mu observations are all in the long thread about the route.
Auscgu wrote:Please have just try and keep your post positive to assist rather than denigrate
I'd call it neutral rather then denigrating--you aren't going to deny the route has/had issues? You can't test RW Tools for errors on just a single route; remember an issue you can't reproduce can't be looked at properly.
Auscgu wrote:To achieve this result I believe that extracting the .bin file allows Rwtools access and the error list will reduce to nil
If you know that assets are in a .ap archive, just ignore any reported *missing* assets contained within it. You're creating unnecessary work for yourself, and by promoting extracting files, for others.
Auscgu wrote:I am asking Mike to consider adding a extra function to allow this process to be a simple one button option
If it was simple, don't you think it'd be already present?
