Blast furnaces suitable for Port Talbot

Post by IronBidder »

The DTG Bristol - Swansea route has always been spoilt for me by the very poor modelling (in my view) of Port Talbot, where they made no serious attempt to model the two blast furnaces, which like all blast furnaces have a distinctive shape and are very large.

Are there any routes or assets that contain models of modern blast furnaces that I might be able to edit in? I know the new Salt Lake city extension includes some, but I don't know if they are individual assets. I've also seen some continental routes that seem to have quite decent blast furnaces, but I've no idea what they were.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks smarty2, I'll have a look, but as I recollect Skinningrove was (is?) a rolling mill and didn't have a blast furnace in recent times..

If you look at the blast furnace in the pack I suggested, it looks very similar to the 2 at Port Talbot. Place a bit of a scaffolding tower (resize a few gantries) around the base, and "hey presto"

It had blast furnaces up until the 70's, The one in the ironworks pack should suit, You can always rescale and add to it in the editor

Guys, thanks for your help. The Iron Works 2 pack has some convincing assets. They're smaller and simpler than those at Port Talbot, but with manipulation they stand in very well and look 10x better than the default assets. There's still more to do but it looks like a proper steel works when you pass it on a train now.
