And the route isn't easily accessible, or at least that is how it seems. So by having to contact the author, do you still have to hand money over for the latest version? Or not?

I havent explored all of the various lines within the extended "Hereford" version of the route, but I have driven from places like :

Redditch to Birmingham New St with a Class321

Hereford to Worcester with a Class 170

Cheltenham to Caldicot (via Chepstow) with a Footex and 37417

Gloucester to Cheltenham with 158 ECS.

And I am VERY impressed with most of those sections of the route. The only slight complaint I have is that the Section from just East of Hereford, to Worcester is a little sparse in detailed scenery. But the route IS FREE you know ! So no complaints here. But I do hope the route author is reading this, as he needs to sort out all the complications and confusions over people trying to obtain the correct version of his great route.

Remember, if you copy the scenarios from the ORIGINAL version of his route (ie not including Hereford or Redditch), and paste them into the EXTENDED version...you will end up with around 40 scenarios to play !!!

It is fairly straightforward to work out the route authors user name on here, by looking back at threads relating to his route. You could always do what I did, and contact him that way, or by the email address in my earlier post on here.

Because it is related, the author stated that it wasn't necessary to make a "donation" after being challenged by Alan Thomson and the author subsequently provided a link to the extended version where you did not need to pay, however, it appears that the link still went to the standard version, of which I was not aware of since I already made a donation to access it and didn't try the link.

It's a very enjoyable route and for me spending £5 or even £10 is well worth it. Professional routes cost far more and this ranks up there with them. I am getting hours of pleasure from it and I am very much looking forward to the author's extension of the WCML.

I've got no issue at all making a voluntary contribution towards excellent work from which we receive enjoyment, i'd imagine many of us have done it repeatedly to various freeware developers. The issue a few months ago was that this contribution was mandatory despite the use of Thomson assets and this was explicitly forbidden, Thomson themselves then requested this be stopped.

When Thomson got involved I actually contacted them out of courtesy to say that I had been working on a short route that relied heavily on their assets, and that I would be releasing it for free. It turned out that even doing this would potentially be forbidden if the situation with this route wasn't resolved. I decided to give up on my route entirely because it wasn't worth the hassle if one person could mess it up for everyone else and make all of my work pointless and unreleasable.

Hopefully that gives you an idea of where I was coming from.

Then the author should not request donations then and stop, hope he has the decency to consider others like yourself because those assets are top notch and should be every route builder's first choice imo, shouldn't be putting other users in jeopardy.

Do you mean folder SP202 is empty or that you have a folder within the Railworks/Assets folder called Trackrule which is empty?

You should have the following folder and file structure;

Railworks/Assets/SP202/Birmingham to Bristol/Railnetwork/Trackrule/UK_Track_rule.bin

You would not expect to see

Railworks/Assets/Trackrule/
