SSS packs

Seven months ago, for some reason now long forgotten, I preordered the Bulleid Light Pacific - Working days pack.
I realise that this was a pre-order, but do they usually take this long to produce their packs? Especially since they cashed my PayPal payment immediately...

Mike
Your not on your Pat Malone with the SSS packs
I checked the blog and the last update was the 9 Feb 2018
http://sssworkshop.blogspot.com.au/
Check face book and they point to the blog on the 23 Feb 2018
Appears the bulleid name plate creator has been unwell but back on track now
The Hunslet Fitzwilliam is having sound issues hence the delay there
Cheers Ausc

What I would like to know regarding SSS is where I stand on the basis I bought the original 4mt sound pack, lost the file and now I can't download it because it is discontinued? So what about the money I paid?

I would say that the onus is on you to look after/backup your files. But if you want to know where you stand have you even asked them?

So did you contact SSS to ask? Your post sounds rather accusing, but have you asked them if they have the file, giving the email address & method of payment that you used at the time? Matt is very helpful and forthcoming, and deserves first dibs at helping you BEFORE you post here.
But it is also valid that you would be wise to back up downloads.

I have all receipts and communications saved in my emails, the reason I probably sound "accusing" is because the email I have states that it was withdrawn because it would not allow the new one to be financially viable, people who had the old one would not get the new one nor would it be available for the reason stated.
To me that says quite clearly, "You paid us before for something you would be able to download when you need it, now we are going to remove all trace of it from the links you had and your only option is to give us MORE money to have the new one"
I'm sorry for sounding bitter but there is something not right about that, whether or not i had it backed up. Either refund the customers or continue giving them access to it.
You say contact Matt, but why would I when I have practically been advised not to in the email?
Also I did have them backed up, but try as I might I can't find the flash drive they were on.

If you bought an item (let's say an electric razor for example) from a shop, then lost it, would you expect the shop to give you a replacement for free? Of course not.
If you've downloaded your purchase AND backed it up, try a Windows Explorer search on your hard drive and all the USB drives you have. It's not SSS's responsibility if you've lost it....

Why wouldn't you - in many peoples experiences the majority (if not all) of the independent providers are very reasonable and very helpful, particularly if approached in a friendly and non combative way.
Have you tried this? On the front page of the SSS website;
"
Order Recovery
To Recover Your Order(s), Click Here And Enter Your E-mail Address. All Your Orders Will Be Resent to You"
I have used this successfully more than once, even though I have backups

Good idea thanks, but unfortunately as with the links I already have, the one for the 4mt just comes up as blank email, no text.
I'm not trying to be combative, i'm just a bit peeved off that I spend money for something that isn't offered as a physical disc (for which I wouldn't be here saying this if I had lost that) the fact is they have the product and I have a download, buy purchasing that item in that manner I should have access to that file for life, otherwise send it on a physical disc. I don't feel I should be expected to make my own physical copy for something I have bought. I bought in good faith that I could redownload in the future If I need it, I can understand they stopped the sale of the item to stop competition, but it should still be available to existing customers. A model AP has proven because I can still access items which are no longer on sale.

The original 4MT Sound Pack was withdrawn from sale a long time ago. In hindsight, we could perhaps have found a way to make it remain downloadable to those who don't want the update. But we can't turn back the clock. However, that doesn't change the fact that when you purchase any pack and downloaded it, it is your responsibility to keep it safe. Having constant access to the downloads is a privilege, not a right. Also, bear in mind that there are also bandwidth considerations. If customers were able to keep on downloading old packs that are no longer on sale(so not making any new money), then our monthly bandwidth limit might be reached before we've even sold anything new. Not a sustainable situation!
There
are reasons for these things. But we're not at liberty to always share them.
With regard to the Bulleids, we have had to endure some rotten luck. But that pales into insignificance when compared to how one of our partners in the project had a major health scare!!!

So they will arrive. But not until the headboards have been done, scenarios finished, QD and manual written.
The Hunslet is a similar situation of delays created by unforeseen circumstances. But there will some positive news this week!
Kind Regards
