Seem like a big improvement over their other releases, I thought Dusseldorf Koln was dreadful. :-?

In this case Aerosoft are only the publishers, there are some well known names behind this. From the manual, if you are familiar with the German developers this will tell you what to expect.
To create such a route is allways a very complex project. This add-on
would probably not exist without the support of alll the people
helped us to build this impresssive route.
Many thanks to Niklas for providing us with a lot of photos of Basel.
Special thanks to Mathias Gundlach and his signalling team for them
constant willingness to modify, add and improve things and to
provide a functional signalling system.
It would have taken much longer to finish this route without the
permission from Siegfried Derks to use his objects. Thank you
Siegfried.
Also thank you to Jan Bleiß from virtualTracks and the team of RLB to
allow us to use some of their 3D models.
Manfred allowed us to use his destination boards, thank you for this.
Also thank you to Dirk for supporting us with his lime works model.
The rolling stock and the PZB system comes from virtualRailroads.
Thank you for supporting us.
Many thanks to Maik Goltz for his outstanding work in laying the
track and set up the signals and the overhead wire system.
Many thanks also to Bernd, Ulrich and Thomas. They supported us in
build up the route.
Florian created some models of modern houses, many thanks for
that.
Not to forget the JTG team for creating the scenarios.
We partly used textures from http://www.textures.com for modelling this
route.
At least special thank to all the beta testers.

I like the Köln and the Düsseldorf bits of that route. Everything in between is pretty bad indeed. I still like the route for those end-points though... :)

I'm kind of expecting it to come to Steam as well at some point - so I'll most likely wait for that. But the route looks very interesting.

Maybe eventually, especially as DTG seem to be pushing everything they can on steam. But I will enjoy the route now, not in six months or a year.

More importantly I will also be supporting the developers and encouraging them to continue.

Looks good - very tempted, but worrying that the scenario on the youtube link crashes a couple of miles before Basel with very little AI in the scenario.

Might be best to watch some videos - it will be on how it looks to you.

I bought the Arlbergbahn, and it's an OK route. I enjoy having back this route from MSTS and having a better version of it.

But I have a strong feeling that Basel to Freiburg is graphically much better. I have heard about performance issues with this route though when compared to Konstanz- Villingen for instance, so give that some considerations.

They might be able to fix the performance issues of course, in time.

For now, keep that in mind and see how well Ko-Vi runs on your PC and see if you can live with a route that might, in places, be worse but looks as good.

Cheers,

I have so many routes and scenarios that I can wait 6 months or a year to get this route - but yes you have a good point here. After all, I also have quite a lot of other routes that are not from Steam so why not support the developer buying this route directly from them. ;)

Cheers,

Took the plunge and bought this. Looks nice, with the usual vegetation used on German payware routes and some good detailing. Got into Basel despite earlier misgivings. The maual is hidden in the De section of the manuals and is very thin with no details on driving the locos. If you have them already you will be used to them (although I cannot figure out how the AFB on the ICE works!) The wagon brandings are generic but there are quite a lot of repaints for the VR stock in other packages. The speed limits at either end of the new tunnel are rather unannounced as there is no LKB. the lighting, even when it's raining, seems a bit odd with anything white almost glowing in the dark. Overall a good buy so far and I'm sure the German community will soon produce interesting scenarios.

Robin
