OK thanks. I did get the correct set along with 3 others (blast Matrix Trains and their tempting stock!). The original download must have been corrupt (unusual) as the .ap would not unpack. I deleted it and reinstalled and now it all works.

Great looking route with some real period feel

Have manually installed this route, and obtained any assets required and installed them also.

But the game crashes with a "Temp Dmp" message whenever I try to load up any scenario !

I appreciate you will probably need more info at this stage, but this has never happened to me with any other route before. So does anyone know what might have happened ?

Thanks

Hi Derek

Sorry to hear about this - no one else has reported any such problems. The only suggestion I can make is that you have a corrupt file somewhere that is being called by the route. First of all, have you run it through RWTools to see if you are missing anything. If nothing is missing, then try opening it up in the build menu. If that loads successfully, then press the Drive button, which should put you in the Free Roam from Rochdale. See if that works.
The route is small, so it will not be any memory problems that may be the fault.
Chasing a corrupt file is never easy. Why not download again, and see if that clears it.

best regards

Hi Brysonman

Thanks for the reply. I am at work right now, but when I get home, I will try the "build" and "drive" options. I don't think I am missing anything major from the required assets in the route either ? But as you say, if the build and drive options don't work, then I can re-install the main route. (I wont need to install all the associated assets again will I ?)

Cheers

Try installing the route first. If the problem persists, then it must be something in the Assets. As you will have downloaded both Assets and Route, then putting in the bundled assets should be next. Also, there is a zero-byte file in the subfolder Developer/ELR_PDH/RailVehicles/Steam/L_Y_Radial/LMS/Engine/ Example_Steam_EngineScript.lua. It must have resided in there for many years! It doesn't affect the running of the Route, but one can delete it one wishes.

Please keep me posted

OK Chaps, have done some more tinkering with this route, but STILL to no avail..it still does a Crashdmp whatever I do with it !

Here is what I have done so far...

1. Ran the route through RW Tools for any missing items, and the only things missing seem to be:-
"GMack" Totems from several stations
A couple of items from "Wilburton/Stockton" (buildings)
And a whole raft of "uk semaphore" signals from "Yelland".

2. I deleted my route through "RW Tools" and reinstalled the route again... from the one I had saved on my hard drive.
(This didnt make any difference and I still got the "crashdmp" !

3 I deleted the re-installed route again through RW Tools, and then downloaded a completely new copy from UKTS and installed that.
(The problem still persists!)

4 I tried going into "build" option, then selected the route, and pressed "edit"...and immediately the game crashed AGAIN !

Thats where we are guys. Do I assume that this means the problem is likely to lie with some Assets that maybe I dont have, rather than a problem with the Content ? Or maybe some Assets that are installed but are corrupt ? To be honest trying to find an accurate and complete list of EXACTLY which DLC is required, was difficult. There are words like "various reskins from UKTS etc"...various ?? Which ACTUAL files are needed ????? !!!!

So can anyone please provide me with a complete and detailed list of EXACTLY which DLC is needed please ? And can anyone offer any more help to my probs too ?

Thanks !

Peobably not, but you don't need one.

Missing assets will NOT cause a crash, nor the resultant dump of the contents of RAM to a diagnostic file.
You have a corrupt asset lurking on your hard drive that the route is calling for, so lets make a start on tracking down just what it is.

Run LogMate before starting the route, and when it crashes paste the last dozen or so lines from the LOgMate report in here. That may give a big clue.
If it doesn't, we do things the long way....

First question is what kind of asset is it?...could be a track item, could be a scenic item, could be a loft...

Track item first: do you have a Track Rule named TPONtrack.bin anywhere on your system? This is a known trouble causer, even if the route you're having bother with doesn't call for it. If you have it, move it out of your game and send me a copy---might as well see if we can figure out just what the problem is. Test the route again.

If it still crashes..

In the ..\Content\Routes folder for the route (sorry, don't know the GUID) you'll see a Scenery folder. Rename that to SceneryX and try the route again.

If it still crashes ..

Rename the Loft Tiles folder you'll find in the route's Networks folder to Loft TilesX and try the route again.

If it still crashes..

Repeat the above on the Road Tiles folder that's also In the NetWorks folder...

..and so on. Taking out one folder at a time will eventually show where the problem lies, then you can start thinking about what assets are used.

The Manual contains a detailed list of ALL that is required for the ROUTE. These are
DLC (all available from Steam)

Kuju\RailSimulator
Kuju\RailsimulatorUS
RSC\APStation
RSC\Woodhead
RSDL\Foliage01

Freeware bundled

From 3DTrains, 5653Barham, Brendan, briyeo, CaptainBazza, Cil, Cunningn, Decapod, Developer, GMack, JADsHome, JeffLayf, Karma99, Longbow, Mundo, Niall Wallace, SAD, TeamCELL, Willburton, Wotawally, Yelland

Freeware to be downloaded

UKTS_FP ID 27126 BLOCKS_AND_LOFTS
UKTS_FP ID 27127 COMMERCIAL
UKTS_FP ID 27128 HOUSING
UKTS_FP ID 27129 INDUSTRIAL
UKTS_FP ID 27130 RAILWAY_BUILDINGS
UKTS_FP ID 27353 CLUTTER
UKTS Freeware Pack - UK Wagons #1 https://www.trainsimdev.com/forum/downl ... 11128e1902

Once you have all those on your system, then you should be able to run Quick Drives and Free Roams. If you cannot, then it is down to a corrupt file, as gptech has stated. Regarding the Scenarios, the majority run with stock default to the DLC and UKTS FP packs. There are some that require extra stock, s
A. LMS Black 5s from SteamSoundsSupreme – Freeware that can be downloaded from
http://www.steamsoundssupreme.com/free- ... packs.html
B. GWRHorseBox by Richard Scott – UKTS ID 25834 / UKTS UK Wagons #1
C. CXV 11t Gunpowder Dia 260 by malkymackay – UKTS 31049
D. TS Marketplace: LMS P1&P2 LMS Early Coach Pack by MatrixTrains – available through Steam
E. TS Marketplace: LMS P1&P2 LMS Late Coach Pack by MatrixTrains – available through Steam
F. 4FPack01 by RSC/DTG – available through Steam
G. Various reskins of Kuju and UKTS_FP freight wagons – mostly available through UKTS

OK, the last item (G) is vague, but they are not scenario breakers, just static items that can be removed (press F2 when asked to Edit/Exit). In the next update, i will have a list of these items UKTS IDs

Run the route through RWTools again, and send me (via PM) the list of missing items. I should be able to point you in the right direction

In addition to the assets bundled, the scenarios require some stock from keithmross\Port Road (Western Lines of Scotland) - Black5 and Mk1 coaches; and the following UKTS IDs
UKTS_23908
UKTS_29197
UKTS_23539
UKTS_27139
UKTS_23516
UKTS_27132

These are the reskins mentioned in (G)

Derek, have you got rid of the 'zero byte file' Mick highlighted?

Empty files such as that can, and will, cause bother for some but not for others, so if you belong to the 'some' group that could be the root of your problem.

As far as I know, this zero-byte file is still resident in the UKTS Freeware Pack - UK Steam #1, which is where I acquired it! It did cause a problem when I first uploaded the route to UKTS (it kept declining it), but we managed it with the help of the Mods. It was Gordon Mack who spotted it.

Hi Gary et al

OK...just got round to do some checking on this route...

So far, I dont seem to have a TPON.track.bin file anywhere in Railworks.

And I ran logmate and here are the last few lines that were printed as a result of trying to run a scenario...

Hi Derek

Not in the slightest. None of the items mentioned are contained in the route or any of the scenarios. In fact, most of them are not contained in my installation. I have never had any good info out of logmate, but maybe Gary can shed some light on it.
I am sorry that you are having such difficulties. Have you tried the Quick Drives or even the Free Roam? They only have default items in them (in the QDs you select your own consist from what you possess - but do not try a Pendolino!)
Keep me in the picture - I am determined that you have a successful experience on the route.
