I'm just going to chalk that up to typical issue with TS2018 and its age at this point.

I probably requires a full fresh install, which honestly I'm neither the energy or time to deal with since its going to be a 50+ gig download then all the reinstall time afterward included.
I could start the black5 in at least one location on the WLoS (Kirkcudbright) but it dumped before reaching Castle Douglas...

You could try AP route stability enhancer but a full re-install, yeah I'm not looking forward to that either! I don't know how many GB will be downloaded, including many many routes that I would not even want to re-install, and so many routes and rolling stock from other, non-steam, downloads to manually install!

Painful...

When you're getting these dumps, is your scenery quality slider on max? If so, what happens if you set it to the lowest value, do you still get them?

Can you use other stock in QD on that route?
If so it can't be immediately put down to being purely a game issue, despite the long tradition of blaming Kuju/RSDL/RSC/DTG for every issue that arises.

Other quickdrives are just fine, just the BMG black 5 I'm having consistant crashes with, I've been around the sim long enough to know when its just throwing a hissy fit :p

@jstange: I already had it lowered, doesn't really change the crash dumps.

I was getting frustrated with the black 5 last night with the WLOS quickdrive. Gave up in the end and put it on Newcastle to York instead - worked fine there.

Yup, still crashes. I can edit it for freeroam without crashes but quick drives it doesn't want to play ball on WLOS

I don't know, guys, just tried to load 3 QDs on WLOS, starting in Carlisle, Dummfries, Castle Douglas and no issue at all. Late BR Lined + 10 coaches.

So the logical thing to suspect first is the Black 5, not the core game itself.

So now we can get a wee bit more focused; the question now is "is it the fragments/consists supplied with the Black 5 at fault or a route issue?"

Have those of you having crashes tried with that particular livery/combination?

I've tried that one and pretty much all the list including light engine varients to eliminate the coaches being the issue as that was one area I thought might be the issue, it just crashes and temp dump errors on each one. I even went into the route editor and enabled BMG and the stanier black 5 in both vehicle and route editing mode under the right drop menu for providers, still no joy. Sometimes it wants to load, others it just crashes the sim.

WLOS works fine with the other steam locos releases available over the years and even other standard QDs, so either the simulator is just not happy with BMG's consists or something is fubar when attempting to load the QDsd on WLOS.

Its very hit and miss and I'm not really going to faff about with it much longer, I can drive it on other routes, but still its annoying to not be able to put it on its stomping grounds.

Which is my point exactly---if those consists/fragments are *at odds* with the core game than no amount of tweaking/blaming the game will fix it.
However, other reports suggest that those consists/fragments perform OK which brings your setup into the equation---is there anything unusual/not reccommended/not accepted as being *the way to do it* about your setup---installation location, UAC settings, security programs etc?

Does it work OK in a Standard scenario? A lack of QD functionality doesn't necessarily mean you can't use it all on WLOS

Might it be a corrupt file. Try unchecking and rechecking in the steam manifest or whatever it's called to force it to download again, or do a cache verify.

Nothing unusual about this setup. Its win 10, standard setup for steam other than its not docked in program files but on a seperate hard drive like most people would do to not clutter the OS drive. UAC is normal level, security programs are just windows defender and some anti spyware. Its a uptodate gaming rig from last year, built it last Feb so its not hardware related and its certainly not a CPU/memory issue as they are a i5 7600k and 16gigs of ram. Plus the HD its on is a SSD no where near capacity.

Its only this addon I've had issues with crash dumping on. It works in standard scenarios if I place it in myself, but again, the whole idea of quick drive was so you didn't have to mess around with that in the first place, so eh.

@ceebeeuk: In a previous post I already mentioned I've done a verified cache and unticked and ticked BMG stanier 5 and have done it atleast 4 times since the issues arose, even making sure to remove the BMG folder to ensure no conflict.

Finding it interesting reading about 'issues' continuing with the Black Five. I have experienced varying niggles with running the loco.
The latest and most surprising was running on the S &C in QD mode and upon using the B key getting a whistle and a complete list of
identical warnings rh screen. (see earlier comment in thread with screen shot) None of them would respond to ticking the x and they
only disappeared on switching view. So what caused that? Whilst I am a regular user of IT including Video editing suites I do find that
computers/programmes sometimes suffer mysterious issues that you never ever get to the bottom of! Not a big fan of Windows 10!
To date I have run the Black Five in game on the S & C, Riviera Line, Woodhead, Harrogate loop and Whitby & Pickering.
Harrogate wouldn't respond to QD but the others would.

Anyone able to confirm if BMG has worked up the patch promised for the loco at all?

I had this issue too, only once so far and I do not remember if it was happening using the B key. If I remember well I restarted the scenario to get rid of it; very strange. And then I still have the issue with the white smoke that does not change when firing (see my post above).

Cheers,
Jos
