Nice idea... perhaps one for the 'route requests' topic?

I think this is a training simulation similar to below;

I'm sure it'll find it's way into TS before very long

I don't want to give too much away, but it does exist (still a WIP) and I've driven it.
(Not my route BTW - I'm just a tester).

I knew there was a Crossrail simulator to train the drivers a year or so ago but hadn't seen any footage of it. It does appear to have been made by DTG using TS2018.
All guesswork but it's not beyond the realms of possibility that DTG were approached to provide a training platform and that part of the agreement is that they will keep the licence after TfL have finished with it. A bit like the contract TfL had with Wrightbus for the NB4L in that once 1,000 buses had been delivered to London the rights for the design pass to Wrightbus for them to use commercially.
Hopefully DTG will have their commercial hats on and offer this as DLC when Crossrail opens. Fingers crossed.

That was 'Desksim' from RPD, using both Raildriver and Train Simulator on a version of GEML. It wasn't related to the full size simulator seen in that video.

Ah, interesting. Thank you for that tidbit. So we think it's new. I think that increases the chances of it being released. Just a gut feeling.

The full size simulator in the video? It is new but nothing to do with DTG/Train Simulator/TSW. It's built by Sydac.
To clarify in more detail, the Crossrail project is fairly unique in the amount of new staff that needed to be trained simultaneously. Bespoke cab simulators are prohibitive by cost and therefore are very small in number, it wasn't feasible to do full training for all new recruits in these expensive simulators. Because the Shenfield section of Crossrail was to be the first to go live, Desksim was created to provide very basic/no safety critical training in a classroom environment on a version of GEML before each recruit would complete training in a main simulator.
