Wishlist Poll: Steam Locomotives
I have now put together a somewhat more comprehensive poll for steam locomotives, with the other polls I mentioned to follow in due course.
A few notes: Some classes have been combined (BR Class 3MT's for example) in order to provide further space. The same has been done with classes that were rebuilt (Patriots, Royal Scots, Merchant Navies, etc) or have much shared DNA (WD 2-8-0 & 2-10-0). There simply wasn't enough room to include each rebuild or variation of a class.
The list has bee ordered as follows:
BR Standard and War Department
Southern Railway and Constituents
Great Western Railway and Constituents
London, Midland & Scottish Railway and Constituents
London & North Eastern Railway and Constituents
London Transport and Industrial
Any loco marked with * has been previously available for TS, but is not at present. Any loco marked with ** is available as freeware, but could (perhaps) be in need of an update and/or a new model with more variants and liveries.
I hope this is more organised than last time, and that there is something there for everyone! The next poll, for Diesel, Electric & Other locos should be drawn up tomorrow, but I'm not sure when it will be complete. I doubt anyone will take note of the results, but I've enjoyed putting it all together.
Finally, thanks to Marcus Boon and everyone else who's mentioned loco classes that they wanted to see in the new poll, or perhaps ones they felt 'deserved' to be there!

Re: Wishlist Poll: Steam Locomotives
Interesting, only a few minutes and we have one in the lead! The WD 2-8-0 and 2-10-0 are at the front.
I have placed my vote... mostly to check that the poll had worked correctly!
All the best,

Hi
I've just noted that you have the Urie H16 as a 2-6-0 in fact it was the H15 that was a 2-6-0,the H16 was a 4-6-2T Tank locomotive.
I must admit my main interest is any thing to do with the South Western Division of the Southern Region, mainly because my Grand Parents lived next to the Hounslow Loop in the early before they moved to Bournemouth again South Western Division, always loved going past Southampton and seeing what ships were in the docks, there was at least one Union Castle ship in, my favorite was the Edinburgh Castle went on her in Durban, when I lived in South Africa.
I wouldn't mind seeing the steam era Hounslow loop, starting from Staines, going via Feltham with it's big marshaling yard(my Dad was a anti aircraft gunner and he was at Ashford during the blitz the guns were there to protect the marshaling yard),then going via the loop to Kew Junction, and onto the North London line,in the 50's nearly all freight trains used the Hounslow Loop, electric trains on the loop were usually the Southern Coded 57 Waterloo Twickenham Hounslow Chiswick Barnes Waterloo, and were Maunsell 4 Subs

Re: Wishlist Poll: Steam Locomotives
Hi Michael.
I just noticed that mistake as well... I think I intended it to be the H15 in that case. I knew there would be one somewhere!
Nice route idea too... you could put it in the 'route requests' topic, but people seem rather adverse to the idea of such a topic at the moment!

Re: Wishlist Poll: Steam Locomotives
So, the WD 2-8-0 and 2-10-0 have been joined at the top (with 8 votes so far) by the NER J21... Interesting given the latter is a fairly region-specific pre-grouping design! I want to see one though: we need some earlier steam for Weardale & Teesdale. The Q6 is going some way to address this, but we need more!

Re: Wishlist Poll: Steam Locomotives
It must be said, there isn't really any clear victors emerging. It may be worth in a couple of days doing another one with few options (the ones with least votes) and keep refining it until there is only a small selection.

Re: Wishlist Poll: Steam Locomotives
I think a lot depends on what regions people prefer and what era as well, which Locomotives pneople will tick
I'm mostly interested in the Southern Region South Western Division,so I will tick which locomotives were seen on those routes between 1955-67.
Some one else might be interested in the Great Western,so they will most likely tick any western region items.

Re: Wishlist Poll: Steam Locomotives
LNER V1/V3 Prairie Tanks are currently highest polling.
I think I'd leave it more than a few days! Give people a chance to find the poll and vote before whittling it down to a few entries. I think there's only 3 entries at present with only 1 vote, and none with 0 votes! At a glance I can see at least two of the narrow gauge - and therefore arguably the most niche - locos have managed 3 votes, and we are only 1 day in. As I said, I've something in there for everyone (Or at least that's what I aimed for!) and most of the major companies are represented by at least one loco. I think I managed a balance of preserved and extinct classes, along with some which are soon to be 'reborn' in the form of rebuilds.
I will try and get a Diesel & Electric Poll drawn up before too long. I have a feeling that will be more popular, Sadly.
I think I will group them into Pre-BR Diesel, Pre-BR Electric. BR Diesel, BR Electric, Post Privatisation Diesel, Post-Privatisation Electric, Industrial Diesel & Industrial Electric. Multiple units will follow.

Re: Wishlist Poll: Steam Locomotives
Very interesting.
Thanks to some very nice people we now have cab plans for the J21 so assuming that the Q6 is well received then we will be building that in the near future.
I'm surprised at the lack of interest in the various GWR pannier tanks, I thought they would be more in demand, but the sample size is quite small currently (the most popular only have 12 votes and the least about 2/3) so it's not a huge landslide of opinions. Still interesting data, none the less.

Re: Wishlist Poll: Steam Locomotives
I think for the LNER the V1/2 tank loco's are quite a handy tank loco to have as they were seen all over the LNER including Scotland St Margret's had a allocation of them.
I would get them,as I have Cambridge and ECML route, and also Weardale, bit surprised that the J38/39 aren't on the list,as again they were also seen all over the LNER.

Re: Wishlist Poll: Steam Locomotives
Hi Marcus,
When I checked first ting this morning the J38/39 were no where, that's why I said I was surprised, now they have shot up the list.
If either the V1/V3 and or the J38/39 were made I would definitely get them.
Mike
