Blastpipe Productions Longmoor Military Railway Multipack

Post by sem34090 »

Hi All (Yet Again...),

I recently came across mention of this forthcoming pack on Donnington Reskins and Blastpipe Productions' respective Facebook pages, and it looks to be stunning.

I was, however, wondering exactly what is to be included in the pack? I have the LMR route (It's great - another one to use the horrible default signals, but beyond that it's fantastic!) so more LMR stock would be great!

From what I can work out, the multipack will include the following reskins (All LMR Blue, of course!):

ex-LMS Stanier 8F 2-8-0 (Woodhead?)
ex-USATC S100 0-6-0T (Phorum Penninsular?)
ex-USATC S160 2-8-0 (Victory Works)
Hunslet 'Austerity' 0-6-0ST (RTM or MoM?)
ex-SR/SECR 60ft 'Birdcage' Bogie Stock
Wagons?

I would hope that some BR MK1 suburban reskins are included (following the apparent demise of Victorian Reskins!) and also some for the WD 2-10-0 and 2-8-0 on UKTS. OK, so they're not really up to 'Modern Standards', but even as AI (Static or otherwise) it would be nice to have them, given the most famous of the preserved Longmoor Locos is a Riddles 2-10-0...

On another note, sort of connected, does anyone know what happened with Victorian Reskins? Bit annoyed I didn't download them at the time...

All the best,

semLMR118 (Try doing that one from the Meshtools base model! :o )

It's great - Thank You
another one to use the horrible default signals - I agree
but beyond that it's fantastic! - Thank you again
so more LMR stock would be great! - I agree

Hi I "did" Longmoor Military Railway scenery, it was my first attempt at scenery and its very gratifing to see over 1500 downloads.

I agree the signals were "difficult" I'm thinking of revisiting LMR while I wait to add MOD to the new Chiltern line, maybe I could resignal it ? but what with ? It was all Semaphore apart from a little bit of 2 colour at Whitehill.

I'm delighted that more stock is coming, I just wish we could have 2 10 0 Gordon there is a lovely Austerity 2 10 0 loco in the UKTS Files it just needs a re-skin

Glad you like LMR semLMR118

Hi John,

May I once again reiterate what a great route it is! Brilliant test track too...

For signals, may I suggest these from UKTS? They're what I use for pretty well any SR Route, and looking at Longmoor pictures they're pretty close. For Lower Quadrant I use the LNWR ones that I've linked to:
The Lattice ones:
Click to view more informationUK Lattice Post Signals [16892906 bytes] - UKTS Lattice Signals.zip
File ID: 32041 Date: 15 Dec 2013 - 2487 Downloads

For the SR lines (Bordon-Bentley, Liss, Etc):
Click to view more informationSR Rail Post Signals for TS2013 [8711574 bytes] - UKTS Rail Post Signal Files.zip
File ID: 32114 Date: 31 Dec 2013 - 2154 Downloads

And for lower-quadrant signalling (As at Liss):
Click to view more informationLNWR Signals (Complete Collection) [35297544 bytes] - LNWR_Signals.zip
File ID: 31866 Date: 27 Oct 2013 - 5806 Downloads

Also, if you're revisiting the route, then may I suggest using one of the PDL stations (Liphook?) at Liss? This will be closer to the prototype, and the modern signage can be obscured with some careful rescaling of the included nameboards...

All the best,

semLMR600 (Surely they have to include that one?!)

This is indeed great news for a great route!

I don't usually download or keep routes that have no scenarios with them, as regrettably, I have neither the time nor the patience to learn to make my own ( ). Longmoor is the single exception John, in that I've kept the route solely for using the odd freeroam to view the fantastic job you did! Hopefully, the new additions from Blastpipe/Donnngton pack will include a few scenarios.

Thank you fans across the world.

Thank you for the suggestion re signals, sounds like a good choice. Re the signboards do you mean the station name ones ?

I have over the years created many scenarios using a variety of stock, and the reason I didn’t include any of them was that I could not decide what stock to use. I even have a David Shepherd (RIP) Special with All his locos from the time he was there, 92203 / Blackmoore Vale etc etc, Waggoner and Erol Lonsdale are also available.

Ive also used a lot of MOD stock from Vulcan and Just Trains.

If I were being realistic there was very little stock for the line so one would have ended up running non prototypical engines from SR / MR / LNER etc etc. let alone the goods wagons that were left parked everywhere.

Also my style of driving means that 90% of the scenarios I assembled were Freeroam, but with AI but to be driven as standard. That is because sometimes on the complicated scenarios when I get towards the end I like to "hop" on an AI coming the other way and drive all the way back! ! Depending on how much time I have.

If you don’t mind changing the stock to what you have using TW_Tools I'm happy to make them available, maybe try just one first to see how you get on.
At the moment I’m running My version of TS2017 outside the pc because it’s still on an original W7 SSD and I’m now on W10 but it works fine so I can use it and mess about until I decide which version I want on W10. Just have to sort out a Chris Trains issue with NS SLMMNPS what ever that is , reload it somehow as his stock seems not to like changing PC's no problem it will get done.

Cheers John

Or I can give you what I have created with random stock and you can use RW_Tools to change the stock.
Or we wait for Blastpipe !

I will in a week or two clone the existing scenery and change the signals, but I WILL need to check in a little more details which ones and where the two BR Lines in 1968 were all colour,, so what to do there ? ? ?

I'm also awaiting this with interest.

Bordon, Longmoor and Woolmer are all still military training areas, frequently used for orienteering.

It will be interesting to compare the Railworks representation with the orienteering maps and with the terrain that I and others navigate across on Wednesdays...

Kind regards,

John M

Hi John,

The route is already around on UKTS! It has been for some time. The forthcoming product is a set of reskins to cover most of the Longmoor fleet, and possibly John (R!) reworking the route, should he wish to, in the future.

The MOD have in the last decade decimated the main central area and cut down a LOT of trees.
LMR as I represented it was acurate as at 1970 (apart from the secret undergound base that I "popped" in for fun.
Mind you if you could find the secret SECRET underground base then I would be an achievement !

My apologies for not including a link, but in all truthfulness a quick search for 'Longmoor' will find it pretty quickly!

Still, the original poster seemed to have misunderstood what the forthcoming product was, and as such I pointed them to the fact that the route was already available, and John followed up with a rather interesting map comparison, to answer their main query.

I really don't understand why you felt the need to phrase that comment the way you chose to, when you could just as easily politely pointed out that I neglected to post a link to the route. If you feel you have something against me, I would much rather you came out and said it, either by PM or on the public forum, as opposed to posting rather 'snappy' comments in response to my postings. I cannot see any reason why there should be any animosity there, unless I have somehow inadvertently caused you offence.

I have begun to re-focus on my railway modelling pastime, now that the opportunity has arisen, so I expect I'll be quite quiet on here for the forseeable future, which I'm sure some people will be very happy about: I seem to be really rather good at rambling on and having ideas that ultimately prove to be failures!

Sem - No I don't have anything against you - sorry if it came across that way.

Your post started with
I recently came across mention of this forthcoming pack on Donnington Reskins and Blastpipe Productions' respective Facebook pages, and it looks to be stunning.
But nowhere in the thread does it mention where this route is found, on UKTS or somewhere else.

John M just asked where the route might be found and you just said
The route is already around on UKTS! It has been for some time
Which came across as a bit terse for the reply to a simple question
For all John knew it might have been on a link from the Facebook page you mentioned.

Again sorry for my Terse reply. (I can be as bad at times) ;)
