Hi.I'm having a problem getting TS2018 to start. I haven't used the sim for a little while, and there has been an update of windows since I last used it. Before then, it worked perfectly, but now when I try to start it, I get a small icon on the task bar, and nothing else. If I click the icon the screen goes black for a matter of half a second, and then reverts to the desktop. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Has anyone any idea as to how I could fix it?
Many thanks in anticipation of help with this.
Stuart.

Hi Gptech. I've tried starting both from the main Steam window, and also from the TS2018 icon on the desktop.
Smarty2 - I have Driver Booster 3, and as far as I am aware I do have the latest drivers installed.

OK, the main point was to confirm whether you had Steam running or not, but as you have when starting from the client it does nail it down to a TS issue.earwigo wrote:I've tried starting both from the main Steam window, and also from the TS2018 icon on the desktop.
Use Windows Explorer to navigate to your ..\RailWorks\Content folder and rename the PlayerProfiles.bin file to PlayerProfiles.bin.ORIG (or anything else that makes sense to you, the thing to ensure is that you rename it by adding a 'false' extension after the .bin part so that the game won't attempt to read it but still leave you with a file that once renamed back leaves you no worse off than you are now. leaving the original extension in there ensures that you can't rename to .xml in error y'see (been there, done that.....)
See if that allows the game to fire up. If it does, your customised settings will need re-doing but that's only a couple of minutes work.
If it doesn't work, we'll have to look more at what Windows changes may have been made---you say there was a Windows update---which version of Windows are you using and can you find the KB number of the update?

Hi gptech. How can I thank you enough???? You have successfully given me a way to get TS2018 starting and running properly. What you advised me to do worked - many thanks again.
