I'll have a look when I get home.

As you say, those beautifully modelled terriers finally have a home, especially the ones equipped with spark arrestors for working to Hayling.

Can't remember whether I asked this before, but is it possible to give us a list of requirements, so I can see whether or not I can run the route when it is finished?

The payware items used so far are:

The Portsmouth Direct Line (for Havant Signal box only at present)
The Woodhead Line
The Isle of Wight

plus Kuju (Europe), APStation and RSDL\Foliage01

I have used quite a lot of freeware items that are available either here or from other sites e.g. railsim-fr.com.
There are a lot of reskins so I will probably need to write an install batch file to sort out the file copying/renaming.

Thanks for the encouraging comments guys - the branch is now mostly done and I have started work on the main line station (Havant). The Portsmouth Direct version of the station is difficult to backdate (lifts and vending machines) so I am remodelling that and perhaps I can come up with a substitute for the signal box and thus remove the requirement for The Portsmouth Direct altogether? Then there is the adding of fine details - people, station clutter, lineside signs etc, etc.
Sem34090 - I believe you are the chap with hopes/plans to backdate Southern Region routes? A nice project would be to backdate The Hayling Line to 1882-86. A home for Victory Works LBSCR liveried Terriers and coaches, then there is Captain Bazza's excellent model of the PS Carrier available to help model the The Isle of Wight Marine Transit Company's train ferry operation at Langston wharf. Plans for the wharf have been published - so another scratch build?

Hi Alpend,

I am, indeed, the over ambitious SR backdater! None of the main projects will be done quickly, but something like Hayling Island would be a nice exercise in backdating. Also, I have all the requirements! I'd suggest leaving PDL in there for Havant SB, as anyone without PDL can always substitute for something they have. The asset is there for the real thing, so use it! One question though, if I may: would it be possible (and it is a big ask) to include crimson versions of all of your green panels? The only reason I ask is that they would be very useful for backdating to LBSCR days, but I have yet to successfully reskin anything. I am trying, but have yet to meet success!

This is really great to see and it looks brilliant. We can't wait to drive the Terrier on an authentic line :)

A thought has just ocurred to me!

I've heard of people creating 'asset blocks' and I was wondering if it was possible to do this with assets placed in a route? I only ask as it could be very useful for this route, in the sense that creating a block might be a good way of essentially creating a single asset, especially for the buildings that have bee created for this route.

Also, have you considered possibly expanding the route, especially West towards Chichester? Littlehampton could be a nice terminus if you were to consider doing that. If you were to consider heading Eastwards then maybe Cosham, or even Fareham, could make a nice place to finish in that direction without replicating what already exists in TS. Just a thought... Hayling is the current part, and for now that's more than enough for me! As Mr Karma of V. Works, Hampshire, states, it will make the perfect home for his terriers.

Hello sem34090 yes repainting my southern assets is a big ask and I'm afraid it isn't likely to happen - sorry. I don't think the block asset idea will work out because I believe the limitation is that it uses the selected assets and places them randomly within the block. The only way I can see to transport something like the Hayling bridge to another route would be to copy the scenery and loft/road tiles containing the model. These tiles would then be renamed to use blank or unused tiles in the destination route. Once in the editor the whole lot can be selected and moved or copied to where you want them. I have tried this method - it does work, but there will probably be a limit on the number of assets you can select at once.
Re expansion - at the moment I am just concentrating on getting the Hayling branch finished, after that - you never know.

Hi Alpend,

Not an issue, I did think it was a bit much to ask that! I'll try and reskin something basic like a block, then try and do it myself later.

I suppose the tiles could be copied, especially if I kept the route origin the same. Actually, it might be easiest to copy across the whole route, then perhaps select and copy the bits I want to wherever else it is I intend to put them. I'm gradually picking up the skills and techniques for Route-Building, so I might consider extending it myself.

Either way, I understand your reasons, and I shouldn't really have asked in the first place! The route looks stunning as it is, and the amount of work that's gone into it is evident from the pictures.

A thought has just occurred to me!

With DT bringing out the Adams Radial before too long, I was wondering if there was a slim possibility of members of the 415 class visiting Hayling during their earlier years? Just wondering...

Any more route news?
