Another photo shows exactly the same arrangement as in the TS model.

One APT-P had a full yellow end and might have had the buffers orientated differently, as an experiment, to those on the other units.

Yes, they swivelled with a big locking pin arrangement.

Just had a quick drive on the GEML for training purposes.
Really impressed so far, the tilt takes some getting used to but it's a lovely train to drive.

Only issue found so far is that it became trapped in fairly violent lateral movement on a bumpy section of track at 110mph (admittedly 10mph over line speed) and derailed. This may be mere accuracy rather than a fault.

There is no doubt about it, this is a good piece of DLC. The included career scenarios up and down WCML over Shap are a real blast. The only thing missing in the cab is a handful of sick bags, ha ha!

I don't normally purchase on the first day, but this is an exception for an excellent bit of DLC.

It's a great looking train, with a real period aura. Easy to drive and it sounds like it is authentic ( even though I don't know whether it is or not ).

You can even hear the AWS alarm when driving outside the cab in helicopter view. HOWEVER, I found to my cost ( emergency brakes applied ) that you can't hear the C-APT alarm from outside ! So be aware !

This latter problem should be easily fixed in a manner similar to the Class 91 mod ( or left alone of course for the purists) when the DLC has settled down a bit.

All in all, first impressions are very very good. :D

I can't wait for someone to do some WCMLN scenarios, so we can have some matching Inter City AI traffic. Although I'm not sure how the C-APT limits could be applied to another route ?

In theory it shouldn't be too hard, the pack doesn't include any edits to the route so the markers/magnets have to be applied at scenario level. The markers/magnets show as available in the Tack Infrastructure listing. The hardest part would be knowing/finding out just where to stick 'em!

I love this. I've been waiting for it be released for so long and it hasn't disappointed. It's a lot of fun to drive and I hope that we see many scenarios for it. There's one in the workshop already. The C-APT is interesting to drive with. I think I prefer the way the ATP works in the HSTs. It's just a little more intuitive as the was the speed restriction light in the C-APT works is just a little unclear compared to the LEDs on the ATP.

I've spotted a few small issues. The first is that in the Northbound Fun scenario, the C-APT didn't warn me about a drop in the speed limit to 95mph about 10 miles south of Penrith and it cost me nearly 100 points. Also, the guard signal doesn't work with the C key, and I'll let DTG know about both of those. There are also a couple of things that I'm checking with Brian Porter at Crewe to see whether they are prototypical or not. I thought it was worth running them past everyone here as well before reporting them to DTG. The AWS sunflower is not back lit when the instrument lights are on. Also, the hour hand on the clock stays on the hour number rather that sweeping gradually to the next, so that it stay on 6 between 6 and 7 o'clock before jumping to 7. Does anyone know whether that is the case in reality for either of those, please? The cabin sounds seem authentic (although, who am I to know?). The only one that I have any doubt about is that of the power cars. They have a low-pitched hum when under load but my understanding was that they sounded more like the Class 91s high-pitched scream. Can anyone remember?

Lastly, and probably unrelated to the APT itself, in the Northbound Fun scenario, none of the stations were lit up and Preston was in complete darkness as 1840 and Carlisle only had standing lamps lit at 1850. I seem to remember seeing something on here about something similar over the last few months that may have something to do with the AP lighting pack. Is anyone able to point me in the right direction, please?

Thanks, that's very interesting. I wonder if the markers could be placed via World Editor into routes ? Otherwise people would have to place them afresh for each scenario. On the other hand any World Editor changes to routes would be undone after each verification/update etc.

As you say, we would need to find out just where the speed limits were varied for the APT in order to place them ?

It's great fun to drive, so I don't suppose it'll be too long before scenarios for other routes appear, with or without some new speed markers. There is one already on the Workshop for WCMLTV, but I haven't tried it yet.

Further to my post above. I've just noticed that there is a speed limit template scenario included in the pack for WCMLoS. I presume that this template has the speed magnets already placed to allow you to build an APT scenario using them. If this is correct, then what would be required for other routes would be a similar template scenario, if the info to do this could be found or worked out?

The appropriate routes would probably be WCMLN, WCMLTV and WCML London Midland. These may appear in time or, you never know, perhaps DTG will produce them , at least for the appropriate Steam supplied routes

I think it's more the 3D weather patterns than anything the AP lighting enhancement pack introduces--I'm sure Richard posted about it.

In each of the scenarios is a Scenery folder, which seems to contain the revised scenery tiles for where the markers are placed. From the very brief testing I've had chance to do I think the markers just turn the C APT system on and off, the speed limit itself being set as a scenario specific edit to the track properties---don't hold me to that though!

Thanks Gary. I'll have another search and if I can't find anything I'll drop him a note.

Although I thought we were shown a passenger view, it appears that there is not actually a passenger view in the train? At least in the scenario which I tried, I couldn't go into a passenger view. Perhaps they were afraid of seasick simmers.... ;-)

I also noticed that hopping between cabs might not be supported... In the tutorial scenario, while waiting for departure and trying to find the passenger view, I hopped to the other cab. There were some clunking sounds, and later when it was time to depart, the train refused to take power!

I followed all instructions, so I think this must have been due to me visiting that other cab...?

All in all a very impressive piece of DLC and I'm glad that this one finally fixes an issue that's been bothering me since they released the ICE-T, the German tilting train: specific speed-limits for this train, higher than normal stock!

Cheers,
