So out of those 3 sources of information, which one says they're from the UKTS Freepack?bigmull wrote:All 3,i run the activity and get the cannot load message,so i go into RW Tools and they are only a few listed.Looking in the folders(with win explorer) again there are 3 Developer folders but again with very few in them.gptech wrote:The names of any wagons are very unlikely to have been changed, certainly not without notification of such a major change. When you say they're missing are you going by a RW Tools report, a 'cannot load rail vehicle' message in the game or by using Windows Explorer and noticing the folders look a bit bare?

Re: UKTS Freeware packs.
In RW Tools' Scenario Editor, clicking on each wagon in a consist brings up a box with all it's details....most importantly in this case the path to the .bin file

Whilst the assets are prefaced by FP, denoting FreePack, that's only read from the inside the .bin file--you could edit that particular line to say it came from Mars.
The full path to the asset tells you what you really want/need to know, so as the other guys have pointed out these items don't live in the UKTS Freepack directories but in the Kuju tree. All perfectly logical, the stuff in UKTS... is stuff made by folk and donated, these items are reskins of payware (even though they're considered default) items so should really stay with the parent assets.
You'd get the missing stock messages if you don't have the European Asset Pack, so that's what you're short of (if anything) rather than it being an issue with the Freepack.
If you do have the European Pack of course, it's going to take a bit of work working out why it's apparently gone missing.

Let's try that one again.
Run RW_Tools and give us the FULL PATH of one of the items that RW_Tools says is missing.

Ahhh that explains it thanks.Still have to swap a load of assets though through RWTools.malkymackay wrote:Yeah, that's what get's installed in the UKTS_FP Asset Folder, but the standard vans, minerals and all the other reskins will be in the Kuju folder

Does that make sense to anyone? bigmull says he has a lot of stock missing and the fact that it lives in the Kuju folder explains it??????????

Had a look and there are some in there but nowhere near what the whole pack contains.I will just live with it and use alternative rolling stock.johnbarron wrote:Does that make sense to anyone? bigmull says he has a lot of stock missing and the fact that it lives in the Kuju folder explains it??????????

Re: UKTS Freeware packs.
Still not making much sense.
So you're missing some stock and it's not in the Kuju folder where you now know it's supposed to be. If you're sure it's from the freeware packs then it appears your freeware packs haven't installed properly. Surely the solution is to reinstall the freeware packs.

Re: UKTS Freeware packs.
But can you be sure that a reinstall would work any better than the original install?
How sure is it that the reskins haven't just been inadvertently moved to another location ? (dead easy to do, I'm sure we've all had clumsy fingers at one point)
bigmull, use the search facility in Windows Explorer to look for one of those *missing* files.

Re: UKTS Freeware packs.
As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I've had problems in the past with the freeware pack updates not actually updating. The solution for me was to first uninstall the freeware pack and then install the latest version.
Perhaps if bigmull gave us the full path of a piece of stock that he thinks is missing, one of us could check our installations and see if it exists in that location.

I will attempt to get a screenshot of the path of missing assets

Re: UKTS Freeware packs.
Yes, that would certainly help, but if the issue is one caused by his local security permissions on the correct location folder denying the installation routine permission to write to that location, no amount of re-installing will solve that. If the assets have inadvertently been moved and a re-installation goes as expected he'll still be left with a duplicate copy of those assets---not an initial problem, but could come back to haunt him later.johnbarron wrote:Perhaps if bigmull gave us the full path of a piece of stock that he thinks is missing, one of us could check our installations and see if it exists in that location.

Re: UKTS Freeware packs.
But we have to start somewhere! Speculating about what MIGHT have happened doesn't actually help without trying to track it down.
Once we know an actual file name that he thinks is missing, we can get him to search his Assets folder to find out whether it is actually somewhere else. We should also find out where he's got his installation so that we can get an idea as to whether it's a permissions problem.

Re: UKTS Freeware packs.
You're absolutely right, that's why I posted instructions on how to check for a file name and path 4 days ago. Until he's done that we might as well speculate about something, or even kick a few ideas about. Where he got the pack from isn't going to affect permissions, they'll be set according to the base security/UAC settings on his machine.johnbarron wrote:But we have to start somewhere! Lets speculate about that...I'd guess that
he's got the game in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks and his Windows user account is set as Administrator of that PC.
If a user doesn't own the base assets in the European Asset Pack it's possible that the freepack installer runs OK, but without the required Kuju files none of the reskins actually work in game. Once again, from 4 days ago..johnbarron wrote:Still not making much sense.
