Re: Train Simulator 2018 - what's included
Hi
I Upgraded to TS2018 and enjoying the NWC Route would be even better going to Holyhead surprised that it didn't suppose we'll have to pay again when it does get there same when the S and D was done as it didn't go to Bournemouth perhaps they just don't like finishing routes properly at least Just Trains do most of the time

Re: Train Simulator 2018 - what's included
One thing that I'm getting with NWC is the infamous ear-splitting roar as I go under any bridges or through tunnels. I do have the AP Stability Pack and Richard has taken a look to make sure that is installed properly, which it is.
Is anyone else getting that? Any thoughts as to what could be causing that, please? One thought is that I have the old SSS route sounds packs that were designed to help fix this but which were withdrawn nearly a couple of years ago. Is it possible that they are causing it?

It might use a copy of the South Wales route's sounds but it doesn't use the sounds from the South Wales Coastal folder - if you made changes to the South Wales coastal sounds, it would have no effect on North Wales Coastal at all, because all of the assets used are in a different folder to South Wales Coastal.gptech wrote:NWC uses the sounds from the South Wales route, so any reduction in RAM usage attributed to the enhancement pack would be duplicated in NWC.
Or, to try and narrow things down to find the root cause of an issue, you could just lower your Scenery Quality slider in the graphical options a notch at a time to see if there's a setting that improves stability whilst retaining a decent looking image.
Something goes here??

Yeah Danny...I realised my mistake and corrected it 5 posts, or 6 hours 41 minutes, later.danny3 wrote:it doesn't use the sounds from the South Wales Coastal folder

Sounds about right, if you're running with fairly high graphical settings; certainly high enough to give smooth gameplay and wouldn't cause crashes--not that low frame rates should, they have little effect on stability.

Not if you don't want to....purchasing anything is always optional.train wrote:suppose we'll have to pay again when it does get there
That's debatable, and not knocking JT's routes at all but they've tended to need the odd one or two patches to get them right.train wrote:perhaps they just don't like finishing routes properly at least Just Trains do most of the time

I've never had a crash with the NWC only in the scenario editor, I know this will annoy Gary but I am guessing that without the AP enhancement pack it probably would?

Agree with most of this but there is still a missing link between Oxford and the Chiltern Mainline (not the Bicester branch) which has been the case for years. JT have routes on both sides.

That's open to testing Martin, but from the testing run I did the RAM utilisation approaching Crewe wasn't anywhere the "danger level" and as nobody else has provided any figures it's safe to say that:smarty2 wrote: I am guessing that without the AP enhancement pack it probably would?
"from the evidence we have, the route and supplied scenarios are stable and doesn't crash approaching Crewe; there's no reason to suggest that any *tweaking* is required."

Rectified (at last! and, it being my local, to my delight) with the latest update to Wycombe Railway and Joint Line, though set in the steam era. But yes, a modern era infill would be good.speedypete202 wrote:Agree with most of this but there is still a missing link between Oxford and the Chiltern Mainline (not the Bicester branch) which has been the case for years. Re: Train Simulator 2018 - what's included
I'm getting crash dumps on NWC - been the only route I've played since the update. All in quick drive... using 3rd party traction. JT 20s, AP 40... AP 37406. From either Llandudno or Crewe end as the starting point, it happens about 2/3 of the way through the journey.
Twice this has happened coincidental to me changing the view from 'head out of the window' to the external view of the front of the train.

Will have to check... but the prospect of driving a Voyager, 158 or 175 doesn't fill me with an 'I'll look forward to that' feeling!!gptech wrote:What happens if you use default stock?spellow3010 wrote:All in quick drive... using 3rd party traction. JT 20s, AP 40... AP 37406.

I'm not asking you to enjoy it, just to test it---if it works OK with default stock you can then ponder over what difference those others could be making. If it still crashes then the QD system itself falls into the spotlight, in which case you'd test with career or standard scenarios.
