Downloading Subscriptions via TS.

Post by davep »

Until recently I downloaded any subscriptions via Steam.
Recently, it was advised on another thread that I download via TS itself.
This works, to an extent, but there is a problem.

I load TS, select 'Drive', then 'Workshop' - and then sit and wait, 30seconds to a minute or so.
Then it starts downloading.
At some point, anything from instantly to maybe 1-2 minutes (if I'm lucky) I get the 'Saved dmp file' message.
However, more likely than not, it still downloads for a little while before I get the 'TS has crashed' message box.

I should mention I have no problems running the game (i.e. driving) itself.

Any thoughts/ideas please?

You could try....

http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 2#p1808355, using Steam's workshop web pages rather than the game for the actual download.

Have sussed it. It's my AV (Avast).
When switched off, TS downloads my subscriptions without a hitch.

Worth looking at how to add TS to an 'exclusion list' Dave; prevents the AV from checking files in specified directories on access/use but still leaves you otherwise protected---dead easy to forget to turn it back on!
