Does anybody know what causes the screen to be black, the game has not crashed and still works, this only happens in DPS East coast north east, looks like night and the overhead cables are white.

Have you all (if any) of the requisites installed?

Yes got all the requirements, strange thing is it does not do it all the time, I have a scenario that came with the Vulcan deltic pack which is fine, but just download a class 170 scenario both which start ar York and I get the black screen with the class 170.

Its not the class 170 either as it works fine in every other route, If I try doing my own scenario I get the same black background even before I add any traction, only tried starting at York so far.

That suggests that you have a problem that's more to do with scenarios than the route--check which weather patterns/skies are used in each of those two scenarios; it may be that one of them uses a pattern that you don't have.

I had a similar problem with a test route I have.
Route is the wrong word as it was two tracks about 500mtr long and no scenery - it was just to try some OHLE.
But the last time I tried to edit the route it was totally black - I could see the two lines in the 2D editor but I could not see anything when I went to normal view.

I had this problem with the Just Trains Mid-Hants route. After many suggestions from people about trying different things I got nowhere. After about a month I went back to the route and it was perfectly OK.
I'm sorry that this doesn't help but it might be worth leaving it for a while and try again another day and you might get lucky like I did.

Which scenario is that David, let's concentrate on looking for an answer rather than getting all anecdotal.
