Hi all,
Would some kind person instruct me on how to take screen shot in TS, come to think of it I have never taken a screen shot of anything.
I am still using Windows 7.

The simplest way is to just press F12, this saves the screenshot to a Steam folder. Really, it also depends what you intend to do with the screenshots.

Let's expand this a little bit more. F12 takes a screenshot and if you want to view that screenshot you need to look here:
Program files>Steam>userdata>97814246>760>remote>24010>screenshots where you will find a thumbnail and the said screenshot,

You'll possibly need the Steam overlay enabled, which is one of the options in the Steam client or else all you'll get as an image is your desktop.
As well as F12, you can press the 'camera' button in the HUD to take a screenshot.

I usually take screenshots with Ctrl+S. It only doesn't work properly in some German routes for weird reasons...

Ctrl-S is the same as the Camera button on the HUD but doesn't require to move the mouse there, and works also when using the F5 HUD.

Advantage of Ctrl-S over F12 is that it removes any HUD you might have on screen, before saving the picture, and it adds a tag with the name of the scenario which can then be displayed in a picture vieuwer. It saves in the same location.

Oh and to find your screenshots, Steam Client can also help you with that. It will pop up a dialog after you exit TS from where you can upload them to Steam, from there you can also show them on disk.

NB: The Ctrl-S method also saves a copy of each screenshots in the "My Pictures" folder.

That might be the case. Screen shots are saved to the "My Pictures" directory but not to the Steam screen shot directory. For Steam the screen shot is all numbers I thought but in the other directory it does contain the route name.

I'll check with a few German routes, such as Munich, if the name of the route on my system uses English or German spelling. Routes that I know not to work have umlauts in the name indeed.

I usually "print screen" then open Paint Shop and "print". Then I can crop and or brighten the picture... sometimes the normal screenshot turns out too dark without editing.
Only problem this way is to show it you have to upload to somewhere then provide a link here.
Steam / Railworks screenshots are good though and well presented..

Or you could attach the image to your post from your hard drive...

The oldschool way works fine: Press [Print Screen], then paste into a editing program of your choice (such as paint). Steam's built in function also works, but I've noticed quite severe compression artifacts...

The only disadvantage of using the PrtScn key is that it saves it into memory until you paste it into a program like MS Paint and save it. If you have forgotten you have taken it and switch off your computer you have lost it.

I usually take a lot of screenshots in a gameplay session, so the PrtSrc method will not work very well for me!

It takes sill pictures (full resolution) and videos. If you pay a small amount , that gets rid of the small logo at the top, otherwise you need to remove it yourself.
It takes a full frame, during play without affecting anything.

If you use (Window key)+PrtScrn, it saves them to C:\Users\(your name)\Pictures\Screenshots. They are saved when you switch off, and ready for you whenever you switch on , and they remain in there until you move them.
This has worked on my laptop and PC, using Win7, Win8.1, and Win10.

Well they don't save there for me.

This from the internet. Says for XP but still works the same for me in Windows 10.
