I always use auto fireman, which I know is not always the most efficient, but a driver didn't do both on the real railway and for me it is unrealistic to do both on the simulated railway, however I can see that some enjoy both aspects and enjoy doing both.

I do have an interest in firing, it is a shame you can't choose to do fire whilst AI drives.

Maybe eventually is TSW we will be able to.

Yes that is why I use Auto fireman - still strange how my experience was so different even with Dampers open - still will give it another go on another route as I know Falmouth is very tricky. Did a run on the route with a Hall - complete opposite! Cannot help feeling it should all be somewhere in the middle but that's just me

Here is a good way to test your driving skills on the SSS/JT Manor, try the first scenario for it on the Churnet Valley route. Got quite a long climb doing between 8 and 10mph.
Intel i5-2500K 3.3GHz Quad Core, Asus P8Z 68-V LE MB, Asus GTX 1060 Strix 6GB Gaming graphics card, Windows 10 Home 64 bit, 16gb Corsair Vengeance DDR3 ram, Viewsonic VX2452mh LED 1080P HD Monitor. Seagate Barracuda 1 TB HD, Seagate Firecuda 2 TB HD,

Will do when I get a chance and get around to downloading the route which I do not have

The new Manor GWR Manor Expansion Pack Version 3 is great
The engine has been transformed and the sound is impressive
With the Ultimate GWR Manor Sound Pack
Nice to see the Manor updated
I first run was 6 coaches up the 1:40 from Newton Abbot to Totnes
The acceleration out of Newton With six coaches is impressive and handle the bank nicely
First drive so still playing with regulator and cutoff for best perfomance
Full regulator 35% to 40% on the bank saw 20 mph at the top with the boiler and water in good shape
Love it nice update

Transformed how? Does it still slip as easily? I felt like it slipped a bit too easily

I have been using the engine in a scenario and driven it a few times testing the scenario
While not an ultimate load test with 3 coaches for the early morning local passenger
You have plenty of time with the engine
The update is great, the engine performs as you would expect from a Western 4.6.0
I am using the legacy driving mode with steam chest
The boiler is easy to fire and very stable under load, you can work it hard with out the boiler crashing
Love the fact that as you work it the boiler will improve steam generation as you would expect

The steam chest does make slow speed control more of a challenge as you have to pump the regulator
You need a reasonable opening to admit steam then reduce for control
I find that steam cocks open and reduce cutoff quickly works
This is quite realistic so more than happy to learn how to drive

I have worked with 6 coach load and not found any slipping issues
The engine is very sure footed and you can open the second valve quickly on starting
The acceleration is impressive with no slipping, the sound is impressive
I use drain cocks open 50% regulator and 75% reverser to start
Notch up to 50% at 3 to 5 mph and drain cocks closed and as the speed rises add more regulator
Then adjust the reverse down as the boiler generation changes colour
Meaning if the boiler is in the red reduce cut off
Note dampers fully open, brake ejector closed and just cracked
The update is impressive and you now have a manor that you will want to drive as its a real pleasure
Your rewarded for flogging it with sound and performace
Love it nice update

I see that the update also gives you 7802 & 7812 with Aberystwyth white paint embellishments as well.
I've had a quick go with the revitalised Manor and it is indeed a joy to drive, however, there is no mention to say that SSS have done anything to it to improve performance though.

Paul
