Atomic Systems

Looking at the scenarios for this route, it looks like every single one requires the purchase of other locos for it to run.
Am I reading this right or will they run but with some AI trains not present?
This seems to be a common theme with most routes nowadays.

Because I don't see it with any routes from DTG for instance.

You can get the scenarios to run even if you don't have all the stock for AI trains but it's a problem if you don't have the player train.

But RW Tools will help to swap stock.

Many scenarios will work with the class 166 which most likely you have already.

As Chiltern doesn't come with loco's it's not surprising that you need to either have the stock used; purchase it; make your own; or use RW Tools to swap any items for those that you do have, or have already made. It's been a *common theme* with most 3rd party scenarios, payware or freeware, since the very early days of the game.
The alternative would be to only use a pool of stock that everybody has, which isn't easy as depending on which version of the game you own you'll probably have different stock installed as default. Would make for boring scenarios though.....

Swings and roundabouts these days unfortunately,JT can't make a new loco for every route,so it's either use other stock to make them interesting or do a shed load of boring scenarios just using one item of stock...

It's a tricky one - in an ideal dream world the sim would somehow be able to automatically include or substitute stock (especially AI) depending on what you had - perhapsthere would be a file for each loco listing routes / periods it would be appropriate to.

As it is, I think JT have struck a reasonable balance with the Chiltern route (it helps that I'm already a fan of their Advanced range). Compare it to the scenario requirements for something like the Railright Class 40...

As I already own quite a list of stock from JT, I'm always happy to see it find new use in a new route!
