TS kind of crashed but not really...

I have a strange situation and I'm wondering if anyone had this too...

I created a custom QD consist, consisting of a copy of the consist vR BR101 + 6 coaches + DVT, and in front a BR181.2. I saw a photo of such a consist in Karlsruhe, so I wanted to recreate that.

Now comes the time to drive that train from Karlsruhe to Mannheim and TS crashes. I restart, try again, and again - TS crashes. Or at least, I get this dialog that the game crashed and dump file cannot be written.

But then I notice that in the background an AI train is still moving. And that the clock is still ticking. And true enough, when I don't touch the window that TS has crashed but instead click on TS, it all is still running! I can even still drive the train.
The only thing that doesn't work, is taking a screenshot.

Did anyone else ever have such a non-crashing-crash of TS??

And I also wonder, is there anyone who has a clue why this specific consist of two different vR loks with the vR DVT could cause the game to crash twice in a row?? (Although I haven't yet tried it on a different route I have to say)

Cheers,

--Tim

(PS: Something did really crash though as other world-tiles than the one I was on did not load...)

Putting the same consist in another route didn't cause an instant crash btw.

I'm not sure if the problem could be related to the Karlsruhe to Mannheim route.

I tried a similar move of starting a QD from Karlsruhe to Mannheim with a 120 & coaches then pausing the scenarios and changing the loco to the BR 181/2 - something I have done on other routes.
F2 save, push play and the Scenario freezes - not sure why as the loco works on other routes.

Yes I also suspect that somehow it's that route which is to blame.

Still is absolutely weird though that despite having "crashed" the sim still went on!

I have found that when a QD I have created runs out of memory, because of too much AI/consists, that if I ignore, or push to one side, the 'Failed to save...' message box that I can keep on driving. The scenery ends when I reach the next tile though the track continues.

I've had many Temp Dumps that have allowed me to stay in game over the last year, probably at least 50,on various routes, both in and out of editor,it stops loading scenery on the next tiles and also reduces FPS to 15 when this happens.

Yeah, that's what happened indeed. Never seen it before!

I'd say I get it on average every 20 hours (when averaged out),so about twice a week lol

It's good on Chiltern as it allows me to save and not just get dumped out!
