Out of interest, where are you experiencing this and with which loco are you derailing? I haven't covered the entire route yet, but haven't experienced any problems.sean53 wrote:Thanks for that CeeGee. Just started a scenario on another route so will come back to this later. Re: Chinley V3.1 Is out now
RouteProperties.xml doesn't call for any markers files, nor do any of the files referenced in it, I suspect that what you've done is actually forced the correct Provider/Product combination to be enabled by making the change. The markers files (.bin and associated .dcsv) for any route are automatically loaded as long as they're in a RouteMarkers directory once the P/P combination is set as active.CeeGee wrote:an incorrect path in the RouteProperties.xml
Could anybody with no markers showing simply check that the JetGriff/Chinley P/P boxes are ticked, and if not does ticking them make the markers visible?
EDIT:
just managed a quick check, and the JetGriff/Chinley P/P isn't enabled as supplied, and simply ticking it in the world editor makes the markers usable---possibly easier than editing the .xml for those not so conversant with file editing.
Re: Chinley V3.1 Is out now
Just had my first drive on this route, and noticed that there is a huge "Pole" several miles high, sticking vertically out of the ground at the end of the platform at Hazel Grove station.
Not sure what this is, and if it is possible for the average user to remove it !

The Marker files are called for in RouteProperties.xml as they part of the TemplateRoutes.gptech wrote:RouteProperties.xml doesn't call for any markers files, nor do any of the files referenced in it, I suspect that what you've done is actually forced the correct Provider/Product combination to be enabled by making the change. If you do not get the correct path in the RouteProperties.xml they do not show in the Scenario Editor for anyone hoping to create a new scenario. Unless it is done new scenarios cannot be created using the Menu\Build\Scenario Editor
I have provided the details of how to achieve that.

Re: Chinley V3.1 Is out now
I think we're looking at 2 types of marker files---the ones used to pinpoint locations when building a route the 'old fashioned' way are in TemplateRoutes, but a list of locations you can fly to by selecting them in the 'compass' listing isn't. The latter is all that's needed for scenario creation.
Just look at other routes such as SWW, WCML-London-Birmingham.

Go into Menu\Build\Scenarios and try to create a new scenario for the route without applying the edit.gptech wrote:I think we're looking at 2 types of marker files---the ones used to pinpoint locations when building a route the 'old fashioned' way are in TemplateRoutes, but a list of locations you can fly to by selecting them in the 'compass' listing isn't. Have you done that?
That is the way to create a new scenario.

Chinley v3
If the Scenario Makers are not showing:-
There is a small problem with the route markers and you need to edit the RouteProperties.xml file
RailWorks\Content\Routes\78647718-46f8-4f4a-abdb-2afae81157bb\RouteProperties.xml
Line 27 if opened in Notepad... change Kuju .&. RailSimulator to read
<BlueprintID>
<iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
<BlueprintSetID>
<iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
<Provider d:type="cDeltaString">jetgriff</Provider>
<Product d:type="cDeltaString">Chinley</Product>
</iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
</BlueprintSetID>
. I have edited it myself and if you need, Pm me and can send you complete RouteProperties.xml to swop over.

Re: Chinley V3.1 Is out now
which your edit swaps for a different incorrect path---there is no ..\Assets\Jetgriff\Chinley\TemplateRoutes\ folder in the .rwp, which makes the argument that the markers are referenced from the route template invalid. All you're doing is forcing the game to read the Jetgriff folder in precedence to the Kuju one, which indirectly leads to the game reading the markers file.CeeGee wrote:I've just had a look to see why the markers aren't showing and it is simply an incorrect path in the RouteProperties.xml
I'll happily agree though that routes should have their own templates, so an expansion to make the edit as you've advised and copy the default file over to a new TemplateRoutes folder would be more appropriate, certainly so for easier future editing.
Also worthy of an edit is the ,,\Assets\Jetgriff\Chinley\Routemarkers\Chinley.bin file: this line is rather non-standard and whilst I doubt it's having an impact, as the asset referenced doesn't exist, it has potential for trouble.
Code: Select all
<BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">RouteMarkers#RouteMarker_Pin.xml</BlueprintID>EDIT: John, I've had no bother at all with the route markers/locations from day 1, no need at all to edit the RouteProperties.xml file to enable me to start a scenario build from any of the locations in the .dcsv, as you've now found with the new installation. Do you use Notepad for a lot of your editing?---long shot, but Notepad is known to do strange things to .xml documents.

You claim that the markers are there in the build\scenario editor without needing to edit anything.gptech wrote:Of course I've done it....and just for fun I'll put a fresh copy of the route on the PC when I gte home in the morning and do it again.
Well? What happened?

Re: Chinley V3.1 Is out now
Same as before....just enabled Jetgriff/Chinley in the routes P/P listing (as it isn't in the copy of the route I have) and the locations all showed---both in the 'choose a start location' screen and as 'one click go to' items in the 2D map.CeeGee wrote:You claim that the markers are there in the build\scenario editor without needing to edit anything.Well? What happened?
There's definitely something weird happening here; if it was a really low level problem we'd all be affected, and John certainly wouldn't have found he had no need to make an edit on his new installation. That is why nobody can say "this is the definitive, cure it in all cases" strategy. Going back to my long shot, if the RouteProperties.xml file has been edited in Notepad, and if it has been *corrupted* in some non-fatal manner because of that edit that only kicks in on some systems (overall load dependant on available resources?....aka a guess) then it's possible that such an odd issue could arise.
As above, there's no doubt that giving the route it's own template is a *good thing*, but swapping one incorrect path for another isn't really an answer.

Re: Chinley V3.1 Is out now
well I just did a complete fresh install of "Steam" and Chinley V3 on a new fresh new PC...
everything is as it should be....
The only reason if the markers don't show is if the "Object set filter" jetgriff > Chinley is not ticked.

Re: Chinley V3.1 Is out now
I noticed a number of places where the speed restriction changes and is not marked and some places it goes from 50 to 20 and back to 50 in less than 100 feet.
Cheadle Heath is one of the places.
