Northern lines missing platforms

Post by chrisc37 »

I have just insatalled Northern Lines 1.1 and after installing all the extra assets attempted to run it, everything shows up except for the platforms. Should these not come as part of other routes I have installed from steam ie Liverpool to Manchester which I have installed. Any help will be appreciated.

As far as I recall, the essential DLC is WCML over Shap, as Preston station is common to both that and Northern Lines. Hence, the platform lofts will be from that DLC

Just noticed where you are located. Why not pop down the road and have a word with the route author - he lives near you!

Chris, what is that image in your signature, it points to rs-trainsim, that website has been hacked, you might want to investigate and change it.

Without WCML Shape you'd imagine the track and signalling would be missing---chances are the platforms are Kuju assets. Chris, do you have the European Assets pack installed.

Steve, what makes you think rs-trainsim has been hacked? .....that address hasn't been used for years, changing to rw-trainsim when RailWorks was released.

Hi
Did you remember to down load and install the route assets pack?

It's called TPR assets pack, and is just below the Northern Lines,on Vulcan Products down load page

There is an update coming soon for the route, may be worth seeing if that solves it,though it's not been reported widely to us,so I suspect it's an isolated issue for which I suspect one of the fixes above may work.

Because the website page has got ladies boots and shoes for sale on it, nothing to do with trains/railways, it doesn't matter whether it's been hacked, or, sold, it isn't relevant to our game.

True, but as you don't know whether it's been hacked or what, it's a wee bit premature to start making claims that might worry some--some might even say that as the claim is possibly/likely false it's tantamount to scaremongering.
What you might want to be worried about though is your system---if you mean the wee image (his avatar) above his name that looks like the old RailSimulator loading screen featuring the Black 5, then it should take you to his profile page at UKTS when clicked, not to some ladies outfitters.

Meanwhile....back on topic....

Chris, RW Tools (if you haven't got it, go to http://www.rstools.info/downloads.html and get it ASAP) reports that the platform assets used come mainly from Brighton mainline, with 3 from the Settle-Carlisle.

If push came to shove, you could swap those items out with RW Tools for variants that you may have in other routes.

The TPR assets Mike wrote about are for walls, no platforms in there.

Just in case anybody's interested, rs-trainsim.co.uk is registered to an address in Bristol, but the IP address for that URL is for a server in the USA. Registered to that IP address is the rs-trainsim domain and also one which, from the name, would appear to be a Dutch site dealing in placemats. Information freely and easily available using WHOIS tools from organisations such as Nominet.
Quite possibly no hacking involved at all, the domain name will have been released for further use if it hadn't been renewed by the original registrant so it may well be all above board.
Still doesn't explain why you're getting directed to a shoe shop though Steve, where did you get the rs-trainsim URL from?
