Class 52 Western - Power Handle
I was wondering if anyone may have any idea why I can't control the power handle on the Class 52 'Western' by using the keyboard. It works fine if I use the mouse or on the F4 HUD. I've uninstalled and re-installed but to no avail. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Paul

Re: Class 52 Western - Power Handle
Hi Paul.
Just tried my C 52 and it works fine with keyboard. Daft question I know, are you using the correct keys, A (increase) D (decrease).
If yes then all I can suggest, seeing as you have done a re-install etc, is to try clearing the in-game cache via settings, tools, clear cache and see if that helps.

Re: Class 52 Western - Power Handle
It doesn't work on mine either and hasn't done for sometime now so have been controlling the power by using the mouse and holding the left button down while over the power handle. Not ideal but it's better than using the F4 hud. I know it used to work fine but can't remember when it stopped working. It may have been after installing the AP sound pack but I could be wrong. Clearing cache makes no difference and neither does uninstalling followed by a reinstall.

Re: Class 52 Western - Power Handle
Thanks for your thoughts chaps.
There is at least one video on YouTube with the Western and AP soundpack and the user can use the "A" and "D" keys to control the power.

Paul

Re: Class 52 Western - Power Handle
Is it just the Class 52 where you are having this problem?
I just tried mine with the AP Sound Pack fitted and no problems using either the F3 or F4 HUD.

Re: Class 52 Western - Power Handle
Does it respond to the keyboard for other functions---brakes, lights, wipers etc?
Re: Class 52 Western - Power Handle
Have you installed any other reskins or packs to the Class 52 folders at all?

Re: Class 52 Western - Power Handle
Everything else works from the keyboard it's purely the power handle.
I have additionally installed the AP soundpack, VP D1062 and all the reskins available at the DPSimulation website as well as the brake fix.
The problem existed prior to the DPSimulation reskins and brake fix being applied.
I reckon it may have started either after the addition of the AP soundpack or the VP D1062.
On a separate issue if anyone enjoys driving the 52 and haven't installed all the reskins that are available on the DPSimulation site, may I suggest that you do because it also affects the clag which becomes a sight to behold!

Paul

Re: Class 52 Western - Power Handle
Glad you like the clag and reskins, that's my handiwork with a couple of small helping hands. I have all of the items you mention installed, purely because I made them all, and I don't have the issue you describe, so I'm not sure what best answer to give. Do you have the controls set to simple or expert in the TS Game settings menus?

Re: Class 52 Western - Power Handle
If either of those installations (any installation really, it doesn't apply to just those two) hasn't been complete you're open to bother, sometimes not apparent until later. It's always worthwhile to install things one at a time and test thoroughly.MrHillingdon wrote:I reckon it may have started either after the addition of the AP soundpack or the VP D1062.
First thing to do is ensure that the default model works as it should, so cut everything except the .ap archive out of the folder and paste it somewhere safe.
Then test the default model.
Once you've tested the default model and given it a clean bill of health (hopefully) just cut and paste the goodies back in.
As the other key strokes work it wouldn't seem to be a missing input mapper, though that doesn't rue out a corrupted one---does anybody know if either of the two packs in question provides a new mapper?
Re: Class 52 Western - Power Handle
D1062 provides a new input mapper because it has new controls for the included headboard operation. Everything else is in line with the AP version which needed new input mapper because control names changed a lot with Virtual Throttle etc etc.
Long while, but can't recall anything custom input on the original Class 52 Mega Pack.
Hope this helps

Re: Class 52 Western - Power Handle
Could be a case of 2+2=5, but issues with the throttle plus a mapper that's changed the control names fits in with the theory of a corrupted file.deltic009 wrote:in line with the AP version which needed new input mapper because control names changed a lot with Virtual Throttle etc etc.
Paul, do you get the issue with every Western out of the packs?

Re: Class 52 Western - Power Handle
I've gone back to basics and the default model's power can be applied by using the keyboard.
I haven't tried all the reskins yet but so far none of them work by using the keyboard for power.

Paul

Re: Class 52 Western - Power Handle
Now, I'm certainly no expert, but is it possible to just uninstall the VP D1062 or would I have to actually start from scratch having removed/uninstalled all the class 52 reskins and soundpack?
I could then see if that is what upset things in the first place. Mind you, D1062 has now been painted blue and from the photos that I have seen you can smell the paint. Wonderful!
Regards,
Paul
