I had a Newsletter preview today from Global Bridge Entertainment announcing a Demo version available in their shop of the Trier-Gerolstein Route.
Now, I'm still downloading mine presently, as it's 1.4GB in size, but, I just thought those of you who may be interested in another Payware European layout would like to know it's ''come and have a look at it'' time.......

There is a Payware full version of this route all ready if you want to buy it, but, I prefer to have a look at what they have done beforehand, as their is a no refund policy.

You need the European Loco and Asset Pack off Steam for this route, everything else is included in the zip.

EDIT: Just be aware that the .exe applicator installs some blueprints paks, bak, cost and tgt files onto your harddrive, you might want to get rid of this 'fluff' beforehand.

Already posted here Steve http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 1&t=147155 from a GBE staff member himself going by the name. But quite right, don't install directly, save into it's own folder then copy across or you will lose any mods and may end up with old files overwriting new. General consensus seems to be a slight improvement on previous routes, but too many simple errors e.g. floating roads, platforms too close to the line and too high. A spat on the German forums has led to a GBE staff member receiving a ban. Personally I wouldn't touch it at full price, Erhang for instance is depicted as flat, whereas in real life it is anything but.

I've just installed the demo version and given it a run,you get 2 scenario's 1 up and 1 down,it's a 294 and some silberling coaches,there are also a couple of AI trains,in the stations.

The part of the route that's in the demo version,is set in a tree lined valley,and a couple of villages where you pass trains,this part of the route is single track,so all you see are mountains trees and a few houses,the scenario runs for approx 12 minutes,but due to the lack of the main stations,you don't get to see much,the signals look a lot better,than DTG ones,more realistic.

I like the idea of a demo version of a route,but would I buy it,I'm still not sure,maybe if they started the demo from Gerolstein,you would get a better idea,just did a google search and Gerolstein is a through Station,not a terminus.

Yes, sorry, well spotted Holz, I admit I didn't check beforehand to see if a thread already existed for this, not too worry, I was in a rush to give you all the good news......
Anyway, seems as though it could have been a little better, the demo is tiny, only about 6 miles (9km), and it's pretty much through a tree-lined avenue all the way, which is very nice, but, a bit monotonous, oh well, anyway, it was nice to get some new scenery assets from GBE, thanks very much for those.

Thanks for the explanations. After vR Villingen-Konstanz it is easy to get disappointed with a German payware route.

So there are no passing sidings in the demo? It is always interesting to see how single track meets go in Railworks.

Isn't GBE mostly releasing Trainz conversions, or whatever the Germany only version of the old Trainz was called?

In regards to vehicles, GBE would appear to be using PTP2 (German Trainz) as a basis so far for some. Couple of pics of Erhang in real life here http://zusi.rzuehlke.de/eifel/kbs474/ehrang.htm from a different POV. There is a comparison shot somewhere from the same POV, but I can't find it at the moment. IIRC GBE use Schusters signals which do look better.
There is now a review page available with mixed reviews here http://rail-sim.de/forum/index.php/Thre ... erolstein/ .T here is also a thread on railsim de, but make sure you have plenty of popcorn before reading. There are constructive comments in the thread and some less than constructive comments from both some forum members and one of the GBE staff members. For me despite an improvement the routes are still overpriced due to basic errors still being made.
Rolf as you are part of GBE perhaps you could post some more varied shots of Erhang and Trier for those who are interested.

There aren't any sidings on this part of the demo map area, no, just double tracks at the Stations and a partial one track siding near Speicher Station, as per my screenshot below. As has now been posted, if you obtain the full route there are some large sidings/yards on the layout for your freight trains, etc.
