Correcting bogie turn direction
Hello there,
I don't know if anyone can help, but I have a loco who's bogies turn in the opposite direction to the track.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
I'm happy to edit xml files and can cope with a bit of 3d maths as long as I take my shoes and socks off.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Is this a local you've built from scratch, or a loco you have?

Hello,
Thank you for replying.
It's a loco I've purchased.
I did approach the publisher ages ago, but through no fault of their own, the makers of the loco are unavailable to fix it.
I was wondering if it's something that's fixable by editing an xml file.
Thanks.

Re: Correcting bogie turn direction
The orientation of the bogie and it's behaviour and is set within the shape file as far as I'm aware. I encountered a similar problem with the bogie on the Kuju Green Deltic mesh, my solution was to use the blue mesh which didn't have the same problem and hide the loco body, and then use a child object of the green body.
I appreciate this may be of no use to you for solving your problem.

Re: Correcting bogie turn direction
It could be that the bogies are located at the "wrong ends", i.e bogie 01 is where 02 should be, and vice vera. That would give the effect of them turning the wrong way.
But I believe that would be down to the original model and built-in geometry.
What loco is it? If it is something I have, I will check it out.

Thank you both for the reply.
Chris,
The loco is the Just Trains Class 20 Advanced.
Thanks again for help you may be able to provide.
Just to be clear...
I want to emphasise that JT were exceedingly helpful and I don't have a bad word to say about them.
Given the complexities of TS2017, I also can't rule out that it's something broken in my setup.

Re: Correcting bogie turn direction
I tried my class 20 on a test using the BR Blue version and it does the same for me.J0hnG wrote:Thank you both for the reply.

Does it happen to other users class 20?

Goto
..\Steam\SteamApps\common\Railworks\Assets\JustTrains\Class20\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class20\Default\Bogies
rename
class_20_bogie_01.bin
to
class_20_bogie_02.bin
and
class_20_bogie_02.bin
to
class_20_bogie_01.bin
that should do it
I also checked the green kuju deltic while i was there, and it works fine (new install) so any errors are self inflicted.

Re: Correcting bogie turn direction
Is it a fault with the Class 20 as it came from JT?
I don't remember changing any of my files and all the important files have the same date 08/05/2014
Peter
Did the trick - Thanks Dave

Same here, what effect will this have on the Deltic pack Matthew---there must be a chunk of scripting that's maybe not necessary?DaveDewhurst wrote:I also checked the green kuju deltic while i was there, and it works fine

No Matthews right.gptech wrote:Same here, what effect will this have on the Deltic pack Matthew---there must be a chunk of scripting that's maybe not necessary?DaveDewhurst wrote:I also checked the green kuju deltic while i was there, and it works fine
On closer inspection and with directions as to what I'm looking for I see what he's talking about.
The green deltic bogies rotate the correct way, but one bogie is flipped 180° when its under player control.

Ah, yes...I see it now It's pointed out. Amazing that we've gone a decade or so without it being spotted by our more vigilant fellow members.
