Signalling and Glenton Valley help required

Hi all,
I have decided to give the Glenton Valley Railway a revamp, a route uploaded some years ago by James Voyce. This has involved replacing station buildings, signal boxes, and various other gubbins to make the route feel more up to date and to add potentially a bit more character.
I will potentially upload the route to UKTS if James is okay with me doing this, if not I shall keep it for personal use. This is ongoing and inbetween my studies so will take a while and I may not even do all I want to with it, but hey ho. One other thing I am doing is replacing all the default signals used with the semaphores from the Wherry Lines (Steam Version) and this is giving me a headache.
I am a rookie with editing routes and adding signals. This is the first time I have ever attempted this. I looked at some tutorials and thought it would be easy enough to do but the signals are really....well, annoying me.
Whatever I do, they do not raise when the road is correctly set. They stay at danger. Now I have not changed all the signals yet and just wanted to make sure I was doing this right, so I don't know if this is the reason and the route is not happy with mixed signals (punny!)? This happened after I changed the first signal, so have I totally ruined the signaling for this route? I was going to replace them all anyway so if I need to do that in order to fix this, that's not an issue. Also, the links appear to be the wrong way compared to how they were originally and I am not sure how to point them the other way? First picture is the Wherry signal, second an original signal on the other track.

If anyone could assist I would be massively appreciative of it all. I started out just changing the odd building but since decided to change more than that, although scenery like trees and hills etc I might leave but I said that about the signals! The route I think was supposedly in Leicstershire so I am trying to give it a Midland/Eastern feel ala the old GCR. If anyone wants to add suggestions on what to do with the buildings feel free. I have uploaded a picture of Glenton Station now to show you what its like so far. By no means am I done yet!

Many thanks all and apologies for the ridiculously big post.
Cheers,
Henry
