Guys, once again read back in the thread. Jimi has explained very clearly how to operate our trains. They are complex units with a high degree of functionality scripted in.They are NOT QD enabled. DON'T use F4 to control the train. Only use the A/D keys and look at the TBC handle to see which notch you are in.
When you change ends........shutdown the cab with the TBC in a service brake notch by hitting Ctrl Shft S which puts the reverser into shutdown. Then change ends and open up the cab with Ctrl Shft S . NB: YOU DO NOT NEED TO TO PUT THE REVERSER INTO FORWARD, it is already there.
Just motor off with A/D.

Hi,
I take it then, that no-one has an idea what's going on regarding my missing textures problem. I'll live with it, no probs.

I'm one of the lucky ones to get the line working without a hitch (not that I can spot, anyhow). It's a fantastic piece of work. I lived in West London for many years and used the District and Piccadilly lines daily and you've absolutely nailed the look and feel of the line. The scenery is good, but the stations are something else - they're wonderfully well modelled - Earl's Court is the centrepiece, but the run-up to Baron's Court where the Piccadilly Line emerges, Hammersmith, Kew Gardens and Richmond are just as well done to the point that my four year old could easily recognise them from a couple of recent days out :D .

The D78 is a lovely thing and feels very different to driving a surface train - it'll take a bit of learning, but it's really satisfying to pull off a good stop right by the platform marker. The 1973 Stock is a great touch as well - adds just the right feel as the lines run parallel to see them whizzing through Ravenscourt Park etc.

Thanks so much for making this available. I'm going to get a lot of enjoyment from it, and I'm genuinely excited about the plans you have to expand the line and add things like C and S stock. I'm afraid I don't have the skills to offer much beyond encouragement, but it was well worth the effort to install.

Jimi.
I thought I would try a Quick Drive on the old, TS2012, ECML from York and the signals are behaving in the same way as those on the District Line Route :(
So not a problem with the route but my files have got corrupted with some route or something I added.

I will have to look to see if I have a back-up of the Kuju Folder

Thanks Jimi.

Peter

EDIT -- Found a way to restore my Kuju Signals and everything is now working OK :)

Can anyone help me please?
I think that is either to do with the Assets Pack included in the download that needs installing to create the folder or the UKTS freeware pack that is also included... Someone will yell at me if I am wrong but check you have them
Just go back to my Dropbox and download it all again. Unzip to a temporary folder on your desktop. Open it and you'll see the various fixes that you need. From what I see here , you need the Assets.zip file made by gptech ( included) and the UKTS freeware texture pack ( also included) to be installed. Those 2 fixes should get you up and running. There are instructions in there as well.
Here is the link again

As always the answers are further back in this thread guys.
Installed UKTS textures pack (thought I had it in the first place ) and it cured the missing ground and rails, thank you!

Thanks for those glowing words. This is why we lavished so much attention on this route . Its truly satisfying to see it appreciated. We have some remarkably talented people on this team and that includes all our resident District train ops and ex-Piccadilly motorman Roger Viggers. Not much got past them I can tell you. Richard Scott captured those stations and buildings to the nth degree. We were once going to have Earls Court Lit up at night with a laser show outside and a Pink Floyd concert on. I think Richard tried to make it a King Crimson concert.................., but you get the drift. Gloucester Road is an example of how he captures soul in a place, and I wonder if any of you spotted a Tardis outside in Earls Court Road.

For those of you who want to perfect your braking technique , this is how its done by the professionals.
Try to hit the platform end at 30mph. Go to service brake notch 2 until about 2 cars are in the platform then drop back to service brake 1 and you should stop right by the diamond and monitors. A tiny bit of coast might be needed to correct it if you misjudged the distance.

Wow. Big congratulations to those involved with the route/stock development, really quite a superb route for free! Thanks!

Fantastic route and fantastic train. Will keep me occupied for many hours so thank you . Could anybody explain the FOR1 and FOR2 on the reverser and when each would be used? Trying to get my head around the cab and what everything means. Many thanks.

On the same note as above, maybe anybody on the forum that has or does drive these in reality could give a brief insight into the practices used when driving in a similar way to the braking advice given already. All in the name of realism!

There's some excellent videos from a District Line driver on the Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/Bisley00/videos , which may be of some use.

My apologies! I had intended to write a brief Train Op Guide for the D78 and 73TS, as there's a lot of controls/switches, and as noted there's a "right" way to drive the trains realistically. I'll post a few notes over the next few days to share the basics and will also work on the Guide. I feel it may add to the enjoyment to drive realistically and nail your stop points, etc. We spent a lot of time on the physics and modeling to get both trains as accurate as possible; with much feedback from current and former T/Ops and I/Ops. So such things as acceleration and braking, and how all the controls affect the train, are as close to real life as the sim lets us model.

Re FOR2 vs. FOR1. The train is usually run in FOR2 (the notch the selector goes to when opening u the cab) with provides full "power" (acceleration and speed). FOR1 is about 70% of the power of FOR2, thus reduced accel. It might be used in icy conditions or on areas prone to damp leaves on the track. It shouldn't normally be needed as the train has a built-in anti-wheelslip system, which we have simulated. You should not normally get any wheel slip, so FOR1 is not normally needed, but was included for completeness and accuracy in modeling the train controls.

Best to all, Jimi

Hi,

Living and growing up in Hounslow and Isleworth in the 1950'60,and after a spell of 10 years in South Africa, back in Isleworth until 2005 when I moved up to Peterborough.

I know the Piccadilly Line and District Line very well, and all I can say after running the Richmond to Temple Hill service,I found the scenery so realistic, take Gunnersbury the car park exactly how it is,also the old IBM building is right,if you ever thought a Underground route would be boring just driving in tunnels well this route will change your mind completely.

The only thing that looked strange was a 378 passed me while I was waiting at Kew station,it still had the Pantogragh up,which as every one knows this part of of the route has no overhead wires.

Can any one remember Miss Smith in the 1980's she lived near Stamford Brook Station, but not in a house but a battered old Ford Consul or it might have been a Cortina, you could see the car next to one of the bridges near the Station.

I remember Miss Neysmith - she was certainly in residence in the late 1970's and I remember the car as a Mk II Ford Consul; I was into '50's cars at the time and owned a variety of Consuls, Zodiacs, as well as Vauxhall Cresta and Victor variants - we used to meet up at the 'Feathers' pub at Hogarth Roundabout by Cherry Blossoms and at the Master Brewer in Hillingdon.

Anne Neysmith was a real character; part of the fabric of that part of Chiswick and only died a couple of years ago
