A bit concerned with these so-called extensions since they install separately from the existing base route and include the old route unextended, why not do something like Sheerness when just a new train is added…don't like situations when S1 is required but only the Hamburg-Lubeck trackage is covered, same applies with South Wales Coastal Bristol-Swansea DLC being used when only Bristol-Cardiff is covered in a scenario. BR114 is an example of this

Why "so-called extension"? It's either an extension to the existing route or it isn't, and DTG have confirmed that it is.

Surely the *separate* install is the extension?...you can derive past Cardiff all the way to Bristol with no problems.

which still doesn't state that a 172 will be bundled with the route, which was the point I was making.

I just thought diesel version = some form of supplied stock, otherwise will be interesting to see what they use for the scenario's. If it's just the Class 170 with Overground reskin scenario's with the route then I shall save my bucks for the Chiltern Mainline

I'm NOT saying I WON'T buy it, I mean I'm interested in what the route will come with in terms of stock for the scenario's which will make me decide whether to get it or not

It would be unusual for a route not to have rolling stock bundled with it, but all the conjecture/belief that it will come with a 172 stems from the picture we've seen shows one. Admittedly it'd be an obvious choice, but only until that's confirmed or denied officially it's all wishful thinking.

Well as they have just released a class 150/1 could it not be a class 150/1 bundled with it as if I recall they were used between the demise of the 117's and the introduction of the 172's?

Actually, in my case it stems from an official reply to a comment from a DTG source stating that the route is set before electrification takes place, and then the picture of the Class 172.

Yes, we have 68s, mk3s and DVTs, 170s as 168s, 165s and 220s for other traffic, just need to see if chucking a gangway child object on the front can work for an LM unit (I know it isn't that simple) - I too am hoping for kind mapping for a Chiltern colours scheme on the 172.

172 from DTG or not as the case may be then the Gangway child object might be the way to go with the standard 170 as a last resort , Bogies and side windows would be wrong but at least it will be the correct length. Would there be room on the model to add exhaust pipes runs as child objects ?

Can vehicle bogie's be interchanged between vehicles in this Sim like in Trainz , The voyager bogie might be a useful addition to a 170 to LM 172 clone ?

I know DTG's marketing and communication can be odd at times but it would be bizarre even for them to show a 172 in the pre-release blurb and then omit it from the actual release!

True Matthew, but they're only clues as to what any bundled stock could be, not a statement that that's what is. I agree it's a reasonable assumption to make, but it was being taken as fact.

Bogies can't be easily changed, but in theory they can be....

I'm not sure what bogie would be more appropriate for a 172 though, that would look better than the 170 ones.

As to bogie pipe runs as child objects, so long as they shared the common exhaust point as the destination then why not?

If you want to get REALLY pedantic, the routes the Class 172 can run on are dictated by their RA...although they are fairly light units, so that wouldn't be much of a limiting factor.

That is of course very true, although in my case I was referring to the game (where you can run it anywhere )

And a 172 it is! - according to the Steam Achievements.
