I misread the .bin file......
It does call for the .GeoPcDx file from ..\Assets\sunshinerene\sunshinerenezusatz\cars\tntvannolight
so either Trav has a duplicated sunshinerenezusatz folder on his system and just grabbed that, or has dropped it in the package a directory too high. Either way, not a huge problem.

Re: South West Wales Route v5.0
Before I go too much further with this a bit of clarification please:-gptech wrote:Just created 4 scenarios using that weather and time---one for each season. All 4 give the red sky.Traveller54 wrote:Set at 2300 one displays the sky as my image above and one displays a nice night sky tinged with dark blue on the horizon?
Just use the more up to date 3D versions, remember the RW_ ones are TS2012 vintage.
1) I do not have any weather files starting "3D_" in any of my open Assets folders (including Kuju)?
2) They do exist in several .ap files in selected routes.
3) Using South Wales Coastal (and the add-on) non of the provided scenarios use "3D_" weather files as doesn't the RouteProperties.xml files. However when set to 2300 they are dark?
What to do?

Re: South West Wales Route v5.0
Further attempts to get better weather renditions!
From the image (set all as Summer) I have good clouds at day and red sky at night using the original weather files (RW_*) but poor clouds at day and an acceptable dark sky at night using 3D weather files (SL_*)
Tried various mixes of files but unable to get good clouds at day with dark sky at night - clues anyone?
One thing I have found is that changing the weather lines in the RouteProperties.xml in any route appears to have no effect?

and before that he wrote:Richard Maxted wrote:AS I noted in my original article at the top of this section a great deal of the problems depend on the legacy of the weather system used by each and every route. Many routes have one weather system but because scenarios can be set with any of the available weather systems the weather system you see depends entirely on the weather system used in that scenario.
On top of that, weather/time of day is very much a scenario property---what you set as 'default' in the RouteProperties.xml and Route Template .bin files only affects new scenarios, and is editable to give the effects you want. It will not change the settings in any existing scenarios.Open the route's asset directory. This can be quite hard to find for third party routes but if we use coniston freeware as an example it is in Assets\pedro_dehoton\coniston\TemplateRoutes. It is almost always in a /TemplatesRoutes directory and the file is called in this case Coniston.bin.
You need to repeat the sane two operations above checking the TimeofDay files refs and the Weather refs in this file.
If you've found weather pattern/time of day combinations that work, use them, depending on scenario.

It seems to for me?gptech wrote:It will not change the settings in any existing scenarios.
I haven't! That is why I have asked the question how to get good clouds at day and dark sky at night (see my previous message).gptech wrote:If you've found weather pattern/time of day combinations that work, use them, depending on scenario.

Use RW weather in day time scenarios, SL at night. Don't waste time chasing a route default that'll be over-ridden in 90% of cases.Traveller54 wrote:I haven't! That is why I have asked the question how to get good clouds at day and dark sky at night (see my previous message).

This thread's gone very quiet...does that mean nobody's downloading the route or that there are very few problems with it?

Played a couple of scenarios so far with no issues. Looks brilliant but not had much time to play lately and so many routes!

Yeah that's what it probably is, more stuff than anyone can play with at any given moment, I've been going through my rolling stock/motive power collection and discovered several I haven't even tried!!!

And it means I don't have much to buy in the Sales now running - might get Maerdy for the nice battery electric locos but I'm unsure on this South Wales route.gptech wrote:True, we've been rather spoiled of late........a nicer kind of problem to have!!smarty2 wrote:more stuff than anyone can play with at any given moment
Might just wait for the DTG Mittenwaldbahn and use my money on that route.
