New DLC will not install

New DLC will not install
I should know the answer to this !!
I purchased the BR Class 76 and 77 add on from Steam today , as my interest in the Woodhead route has been re-kindled by some excellent Workshop scenarios.
However, after purchase the DLC did not download as usual. I tried closing and re-starting Steam, but no joy.
I understand that there is a method of forcing DLC to download, but I've forgotten how to do it.
Can anyone help ?

Not sure if this is the best method but one that has worked for me is to untick the install box for each item on the main steam library page - and then re-tick it. Seems to start downloading after that,

Thugsy is spot on, though some have found that the redownload won't begin until they restart the Steam client.
It's probably wisest to, after unticking the DLC box, wait a minute or two for the deletion to happen then close down Steam and restart it to be able to put the tick back.

Yes I tried Thugsy's method, but did not wait for 2 minutes for the deletion. Will try the above method and report .

I did the above, unticked the DLC box for the Class 76 &77 Add on, waited a full 2 minutes. Then closed down Steam. On re-starting Steam, the tick was back by itself, but there was no blue downloading bar at the bottom of the Steam window and of course no new DLC in my railworks folder.
Very strange ? I have carried out the above 3 times with the same result. Incidentaly, the "STATE" in the tickbox window for ALL my DLC says "not installed". Is that normal, the game runs all other DLC ok.
Re: New DLC will not install
Currently Steam seem to be having problems e.g. "Workshop Unavailable" , maybe that is why the DLC would not "untick" and indeed not download ?
I will have to wait.
I will have to wait.

Go to your TS Steam Library page and click on the drop down Library menu, at the bottom click on downloads, at the upper right in the next window you might find that your download might have a certain time when it is going to download, click that to change it too download now.

Thanks for the suggestion.
In the "downloads" window you describe, there is nothing in the upper right . In the upper left there is "Network Usage " showing "O bytes" in every category.
There is still no workshop ( can anyone else get it ? ) so maybe Steam are having problems?

So why does it say "Not installed" , what can I do about it ? Is this problem, whatever it is, preventing DLC from downloading ?
BTW ...The Workshop on Steam appears to be back.

I don't really know, but you could try doing a verify integrity of game cache, from your steam library page. To do this right click on TS in the library select properties at the bottom then click on the local files tab in the next window and then the verify integrity of game cache button. This could take up to 20 minutes or so. Warning, this well overwrite any mods you have so do a backup of TS first.

I think I have a serious problem here ! Or there is a problem at Steam ?.....on the "Local Files" tab as above the "Verify integrity of game cache is "greyed out" and cannot be selected, as are all the other options Browse Local files, Back up Game files and delete Local Game content.
I was reluctant to verify cache ( because of the mods issue) , but have done so several times. I have never found this option to be unavailable before.
Is it just my installation, or have others got this situation ?

Mine is alright. What drive and folder is your installation in and what is your OS, state whether 32 or 64 bit ?

Re: New DLC will not install
Steam is busy downloading some updates for me, not just for TS but the fishing game too so problems from the UK may be related to that. Having said that, none of my options are greyed out.
Re: New DLC will not install
Have you recently changed your install location or made duplicates elsewhere for backups on the same drive as your installation? I've never heard of the sim doing this and it seems like Steam doesn't know where your files are. Is there some way in Steam to show the location it believes a game is installed to?
In your Games Library in Steam, does Train Simulator show white or grey on the left hand side? If you select it, does the main screen for Train Simulator does the button offer 'Play' or 'Install' as an option?
