Rotabili Italiani: Goodies Galore

Post by JohnM1945 »

Meandering through the European RW/TS sites recently, I took a fresh look at Rotabili Italiani, home page http://www.rotabili-italiani.org/sito/index.html.

There - if you're not already a regular visitor - you will discover a list of recent and not-so-recent introductions and revisions, including some excellent routes, one of which, 'Nodo di Roma', I had not seen before. The routes are listed in detail on the pages behind the 'Itinerari' tab.

Also worth exploring is the 'Siti Amici' tab; it takes you to a very useful page of links to other active Italian sites with yet more assets and routes (including Chivasso-Ivrea). Lots of friendly welcomes and generous sharing. Thanks to all concerned! :D :D

Kind regards,

John M

Thanks for the link John.

I will try that 'Nodo di Roma'
And in the links it took me to http://yosemitealer.wixsite.com/alltrainsimworld and I found an ETR 500 set in the downloads - not tried it yet

Nodo di Roma ...

... turns out to be a double-tracked line running about 30km NE from the outskirts of Rome up the Tiber valley, with a mid-to-late 20th Century feel to it. It's very pleasantly done. I did not have to search for extra assets.

RW_Info shows a very large marshalling yard on the SW section. I've not looked at this section but I have tried - and enjoyed - a passenger scenario running through the rural NE section. As this is version 1.04 I'd guess that the creator has plans for further development. Rome Termini station (which would be a major piece of modelling) is not far from the SW end of the line. To the N & E there are plenty of less onerous expansion possibilities.

Does anyone know what is planned?

Kind regards,

John M

Judging by the screenshots, the ETR 500 has very low quality.

Still not tried it but for AI it might do.

But have you seen the screenshots?

I think the quality is not enough neither for AI. Even there are models for MSTS with a much higher quality.

I might just have the train as static stock somewhere.
